Hi guys can someone please explain to me what reseller hosting is,I know it sounds obvious what it is But how does it work..

Well, the typical way to explain this is "Buy in bulk, sell in smaller quantities". You buy a reseller account from a webhost, and that reseller account allows you to sell to clients in a (usually) branded way, so your clients will not know you're a reseller. Your clients would get their own control panels, you handle the billing, and responsibility for your clients.

I word of caution though. A good reseller account will come at a particular price. Unless you have a clear target market that doesn't consider price as the major buying criterion, you'll have a rather hard time in the current industry climate. Being a host clearly isn't a get rich quick scheme. There is a second type of "reseller package/program", the kind that resellerspanel.com offers. It is more of an advanced "affiliate/referral program".

Thats right tonyFF I do have a hosting directory which I have just purchased which is why i posted the question,so I can educate myself about webhosting so i can provide a better service... As im just a newbie.. do you find somthing wrong with this??

I have clicked on about 10 links and half of them were broken, I reported 2 or 3.... edit : they are missin http:// in front of the link, so all links go like that http://yourdomain.com/www.host.com

TonyFF thanks for report the broken links for me,I will get onto it... When i posted my first post regarding information on reseller accounts.. I didnt know how to but my sig on my posts, then i work it out... its a legitimet question and not a ploy to promote my website on WHT ... Who made the first reseller hosting plans? I think i first used a reseller hosting plan with ensim like 2000.

Reselling is when you are not the main provider, but when you act as it. You sell the services of another provider. You can be transparent or non-transparent. If you resell a provider under their name, you may act as an "affiliate." If you resell a provider under your own name, it may also be known as a "private label." This is the normal arrangement for most resellers.

Low priced reseller hosting packages. Sure, you may use them, but expect to get what you pay for. That's only for you to decide, as there is no best, there is only "the best for you". With hundreds of reseller hosting providers active on this board, I'm pretty sure there are at least that many hundred diferent opinions on who the best provider is. This thread alone won't be leading to the creation of your business plan. You need to spend time serching and reading a lot on this board. There's a wealth of information just waiting to be discovered. The general advice is already out there, in vast quantities that won't be equalled in this thread. Once you get into specifics, start asking well defined questions, and hopefully members will be able to give you some advice. The Running a Web Hosting Business forum should contain most if the interesting info you're after.
