Backing up vps's with Rysnc

Hello, I'm using rsync to backup my server which contains vps's. I've set rsync to backup the entire /vz directory. However I'm wondering if this is correct or should I just be backing up /vz/private or /vz/root instead? Thanks in advance.

you need to backup /vz/private only
