DO u you as a reseller offer domain registration services on your website? 1)How profitable is it? 2)What does a newbee need to know about the basics? 3)When i registered my domains at namecheap everything was fast .It seemed like it was automated -- not like someone was sitting there and approving my account. It was over in 3 seconds. Is it really automated? 4)getting an enom acct prices ?? $$. Reseller questions below: How much disk space/bandwidth do i need to have to consider selling reseller accounts? 2)Do i need to have a dedicated server as it offers more space/bandwidth? 3)If i have a reseller account with host gator for example --- can i offer reseller accounts being a reseller myself? pl try and ans as many questions as possible thanks

1) Depends on your market and what you charge. Many companies use domains as a loss leader, to try and get people onto the website, and they make there money with other products. 2) You are better to read through the How-To's on the actual sites you use to register domains. 3) Most everything is automated with domain name registration now days. 4) You can get free enom accounts, however the accounts that are $6.95 and less cost quite a bit and are hard to come by unless you pay the full amount directly with enom. Part 2 1) You can start with any amount, if you can get someone to buy that amount then you are set. Most plans these days offer a minimum of 50mb space and 500mb bandwidth, so if you want to offer a reseller account I would suggest going up from there. There really is no limit as different people have different needs from a reseller account. 2) You will need a dedicated server or VPS account usually because you need to have root WHM to be able to create a reseller account. I am not sure how it works with other control panel programs though. 3) Usually you can't, however you are better to ask HostGator that, sometimes they offer affiliate programs that might work well for you as well. Hope this helps.

I'm not a reseller but I could tell you that with the current WAR on costs of Domains, it's not really profitable. It's just a side thingy to offer our clients. We don't really earn a lot from it. Do not register it under your own account. If you're not a reseller or something, I suggest that you send them to another place for them to register their own domain. You'll run into a lot of trouble and headache in the future if something goes wrong. YES it is. After payment, everything is 100% automated. If I'm not mistaken about $300 (for it to be worth while) I would suggest starting with the smallest package that your host has. Try it and if you're not wanting it, at least it wouldn't be a BIG loss. No you don't. Usually people start out being a reseller and if business booms, then only start thinking of BIGGER packages and/or a Dedicated Server. No you can't. Unless the company has a reseller get reseller plan or something similar to that. Else it would be impossible for you to create reseller accounts (being a reseller yourself). Hope these answers help a bit. Have a wonderful day. Take care.

Selling domain names isn't all that profitable in itself. Unless you've found some sort of niche market that's willing to pay much higher rates, most website owners won't pay more than $10 a year for a domain name. Offering domain name registrations does indirectly increase profits by making your customers less likely to pack up and leave. If you've registered a client's domain name and host their website, it's going to be a hassle for them to transfer all of that stuff to another web host.

I don't think you can evaluate any profit/loss selling domains but yes, you can consider becoming a domain reseller and offer it as a extra added vantage for your clients and promote it accordingly,

I have seen a local webhosting company and they offer domain registration service , when the webpage opens up for registration they are also prompted to choose a webhosting package to addon -- this might be a good idea like many suggested on this thread. My q: How do i get the "software' to create the blank spaces to fill info -- does having an enom acct take care of all that? also when they fill out the domain they are intrested -- does it sync with enom servers to see if it is available? what steps need to be taken to prevent fraud domain registration -- what other issues involved with domain reg that cause problem? thanks

Normally, you would need to use the Enom API's and other than that a local programmer to get it coded.
