UK/Euro/US ASP Reseller Needed Urgent

Posted by tttulio, 12-03-2005, 11:32 AM
Dear All. I am looking for a reseller account. My clients are mainly based in the UK, I have about 30 sites and 5 of them NEED asp and 2 MSsql. 5Gb/50GB would be enough. About $350/year. My present Windows supplier is dreadful, bad service, bad support poor value. I checked other suppliers in the UK, like Relio, but their Windows servers are in the US. The main advantadge for my clients is that when users of google.co.uk select sites of the UK only, they are in. I have also a basic Linux account with Hiya/Hostinglite that I set up as a test, and they proved to be pretty good for my less demanding sites. Ultimately, I would like 1 supplier, But I assume that having 2 will be the best way forward. At the moment I have 2 contenders: _Jodohost.com, they seems reliable, offer Windows/Linux accounts, unlimited MSSQL, but limited user accounts. Average time over 10 pings: 47.5 ms _EuroVPS, I heard really good things of them, but if you need Linux + Windows you have to buy 2 accounts, their basic package is generous enough for me, but only comes with 10MB MSsql. The most worrying is that when I tested it just now ( on a Saturday) the Average time over 10 pings: 125.2 ms Please share you thoughts, and let me know if I am neglecting someone. Best regards, TTTulio

eurovps have been known to cram their servers which is not a good thing

There are plenty of hosts who might be able to help with your request, I may get slapped for saying this but most of the UK hosts will be found at www.forum2.co.uk

I REALLY need names from people who had experience with someone, I got loads of UK suppliers where the datacentres are in TH US but at UK costs, I might as well shop in the US. Can Someone give me names? Best..

Only name I know is Fasthosts, and yes I've used them with reasonable success on small traffic sites, but most people seem to hate them...

I assume that having 2 will be the best way forward. not necessarily. >_Jodohost.com afaict are in the US so dont meet your criteria >_EuroVPS, the Average time over 10 pings: 125.2 ms seems very high. You've not mentioned any other criteria, like telephone support, or control panel for linux etc...

Hi, I 've through Fasthosts and I am glad I am out. I dont mind Jodohost or other based in the US, They are the only ones I know of offering Windows/Linux/ASP/MSSQL for that sort of price, and they appear to have a good reputation here. If anyone knows other companies from experience, but I need Windows ASP.NET. best, TTT

Latency really matters so little these days. Latency is an important factor in game hosting or VoIP communication and simikar areas where a delay in receiving/sending packets can make a difference in what is trying to be accomplished. In Web-hosting, a latency of 50ms or 150ms makes little difference in site loading speeds or in download speeds. I suggest you do a download and see what sort of speeds your ISP is giving you from the networks of the hosts you are looking at. That would tell you more about your connection with the host than the latency check. A traceroute would also allow you to determine number of hops inbetween you and your host
