NAC or The Planet? Which Data Center Should I Choose?

Posted by koushibasaki, 09-12-2005, 09:10 AM
I am planning to sign up for a reseller account. I can't decide which one to choose. One reseller has data center located at NAC and another one is at The Planet. Which one is faster and better and bigger and more reliable and can be viewed faster overseas (e.g. somewhere in Japan, Malaysia, etc)? Thanks for your input, because I will let the best data center decide for me.

save yourself the trouble sign up for resellerzoom and get the possibility of both

koushibasaki, Technically the NAC is more beefy while The Planet is more widely known. Not completely true. All reseller accounts (if not all new accounts) are put at the NAC data center. Its not as if a users has the option to choose. While RZ/HZ made the commitment to move resellers to the NAC, "unfortunately the level of service we expected have not been up to par." To be fair, doing a search on "The Planet" will yeild you many mixed feelings.

I didn't mean he'd have a choice.. I meant, why not join them, then he wouldn't have to make a decision

Go with NAC. We have been with them and EV1 (formerly RackShack) for years. They have always done right by us.

I've read in alot of other forums mixed feelings about The Planet. Like all the more experiance guru's here I'd suggest you listen to them and go with the NAC.

I could not access to The Planet 's web site 3 or 4 days ago. I am living in Asia. At that time I did not know what it was. Can you tell me whether this is NAC? http://www.nac.net/ Thanks.

Yes. Their website is pretty crappy, looks like something from the late 90's

looks can be deceiving at times

They just recently had a few hour outage for some servers, you may read about it here: http://forums.15minuteservers.com/showthread.php?t=216 ThePlanet has had their share of downtimes as well. NAC is a great network if you have lots of users in Europe. ThePlanet has an awesome overall network as they're in a more central location. It really depends on your needs, both are satisfactory, IMHO.

What was the uptime with your server that you have/had with The Planet?

Posted by AdyRox, 09-12-2005, 08:17 PM
It was online for the length of my contract with them.

Posted by eDedi, 09-12-2005, 08:19 PM

Posted by AdyRox, 09-12-2005, 08:20 PM

as far as I know Nac is selling dedicated servers via 15minservers , i dont know if they changed yet.

Posted by AdyRox, 09-13-2005, 03:42 PM
dolay, going from what i have heard from some of their clients, they changed from using 15minservers for their dedicated servers once they were making enough profit

Do they have plans & pricings at their pages? I cant see still

Judging from what I've read, it's just the opposite for the new owners. However, I have not personally had bad customer service...yet. DreamWorks, Check out the offers section towards the bottom of this forum, they have a really nice P3200 on sale that has SCSI drives and plenty RAM .

why don't you request to both of them their UPtime. A serius company should supply/publish uptime data.
