Site5 is good; however, recently they seem to be packing their servers and overloading them.

ResellerZoom seems to have good plans as well.

Reseller Zoom seems to be pretty good from what i hear. They use The Planet same as hostgator. HostGator seems to be a little quicker to respond to questions from what little i've used them both. ResellerZoom seems to offer larger packages. Theres pros and cons for both just read them over and see what suits your needs the best. If nothing else try them both. IMO spending 50 bucks find which you like better really isnt much when you consider what you can make if you advertise right ect.

I've been with Hostgator for a year now with their reseller package. Support for the couple of issues I have had has been quick and helpful. I would recommend them Though I should note that they don't allow overselling so depending on how you want to manage your domains this might be an issue for you.

That appears to be only on some servers, and they're correcting the problem (albeit maybe a bit slowly). So, they still have my vote for cPanel host

Agreed. They have problems but Matt and their entire engineering team is working to correct this. In addition, they will probably place new customers on servers that are lightly-loaded. Most likely you won't have any problem.

I've been on a HostGator shared account for over a year and a half. I can't comment on their support much as I didn't really need it, but the uptime has been more than satisfactory for my needs. The longest downtime that I can remember was the one when part of ThePlanet's network was down due to some power related problems. I've been with Site5 as well, for a few months now, on a Multisite shared account. Excellent uptime. I did not notice on this server the overloading issues mentioned recently by some of their customers. Similarly, I had no need for support, but I did exchange emails directly with someone from their staff, and during this period of moving accounts to new servers, the timeliness of his responses did suffer. They seem to be in a transitional period. That's about it. I hope this helps.

Just in case anyone is curious, I decided to go with HostGator. I went with the "Baby" shared hosting plan since I really just want to host my sites. Maybe someday when I think I can handle it, I will try one of their reselling plans. My thanks to all who replied!

I've had a Site 5 reseller account for about two months now. In that time, my sites have gone down almost every day at least once. Although thier support seems quick to respond, the issue is repeated over and over. This is not fair to me or my clients and I am now searching for a new host.

I currently have reseller accounts at THRILLHOST, SITE5 and HOSTGATOR. Here's what I can tell you. SITE5 acknowledged this and are working hard on resolving the issue. New customers probably won't face this issue. However, if you read their company profile, I would raise this question: Issues like having a server overloaded are acceptable for newbie hosting companies, But being "a group of geeks... founded in 1998" I really wonder why they get such a problem 7 years later! Having said that, SITE5 has been among the best hosting providers I've used since May 2003 (I've tried >8, I think). Highlights: - support: their support responses are very helpful as they take the time out to explain things to you. very useful and helpful for me - overselling: allowed I signed up with HOSTGATOR based on extremely good reviews about their services. I can't say I've had any major problems with them at all. So I guess they're thumbs up, too. My HOSTGATOR wishlist - support: they give very, very concise answers. yes, it doesn't matter too much. what's really important is that their servers perform well and your sites are up. but generally, people who get hosting and/or reselling services learn along the way and support replies with a little bit of explanation helps a lot. - they enable overselling. currently, they don't allow it. to be fair, they offer pretty big bandwidths as it is. but with a reseller account, the feature of overselling can be very useful. they do have a valid point though which is explained here here. This is a midPhase company. I used them last March 2004 and was a big fan. I guess I caught them at a time when they were getting more customers than they could handle (around November 2004). I can't say much how they perform right now but I can't give a thumbs up for THRILLHOST.
