Book Recommendations

Posted by PaulM, 02-14-2011, 11:59 PM
I'm looking for new-ish / books that aren't outdated on: NetworkingSecuritySystem Architecture / Administration And the topics around those as I'm always looking to try and expand my knowledge... Are there any books that people would recommend? Any book links or even ebook / other online resources would be great.

For security I recommend the BCS Info Sec book for the ISEB certificate: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Information-.../dp/B004GCK8VO. It's absolutely not a technical how-to, but does cover the principles of what needs to be done and why. I've also got a copy of an ebook somewhere on Info Sec governance, I think by one of the infosec organisations (ISSA/ISACA or somesuch) - I seem to recall it was rather good. IF you're interested let me know and I'll dig it out and email you a copy/send you a link. Of course if you want a real technical guide, ignore all of the above!

I recommend books from wrox and o'reilly - they are my favourite publishers. Can you be more specific about the book topics, because they are too broad.

I've kept it intentionally broad... I like to take in all aspects of things like a sponge - however books on clustering / failover particularly tickle my fancy.
