Percona Server Setup

Posted by Dregond Rahl, 11-29-2010, 10:45 AM
Hey everyone, I have been trying for a while to get Percona server + XtraDB setup on my test server for a while now, but I'm not sure how to install it. I'm running Debian 5 32-bit. I tried following the steps but the problem is there are many packages and I'm not sure which to install. http://www.percona.com/software/percona-server/ Its a fresh system so no mysql is installed, I will be using WordPress. Any help is appreciated, Dregond

I would stick with 5.0. apt-get install percona-server-server percona-server-common Keep in mind - percona is not going to do anything for you without the applicable changes done to your application AND my.cnf.

Yeah, i'm still looking into details about it, strangely its not as well known. Any good place to find any tutorials for Percona ?

This is not something you can tutorial for. Its simply innodb, and you have to 'understand' how it works to correctly optimize for it. Very little of the configuration is specific to percona.

I guessed so, I will just experiment with it a bit and see how it goes. Still trying out Debian and a few other things. Thanks for your help =]
