AssertiveHost BAD BAD BAD

It's polite to give us a answer "we are working on it" or something. After reporting my server down, there's no response for 3 hours. It's day time on a business day. There server down every week.

Could you provide the domain name of your account hosted with them? Thanks, Ryan Clark

I am sure you are referring to the server that is currently down. It was pulled by the datacenter due to a phishing site someone uploaded, we are working to have the server brought back online as quick as possible as soon as the abuse team approves it.

Thanks for your answer. Indeed we are transfered from tomsyer which was a good hosting provider but in trouble recently. Hope you do better than them.

Ouch - AssertiveHost seems to not have their customer support in order to not be able to let you know that they are working on it after 3 hours of downtime. Roj

hate to bump an old thread, but I'm also a tomsyer to AssertiveHost and can't say it's been the best of times, I had 96% uptime for Feb. Client's files & emails were missing today and seemed to revert back 5 hours. Takes 24+ hours sometimes to hear from support .. and they always say it's someone messing with the system so this downtime is not guarenteed through our 99% uptime guarentee .. Believe I had 9 downtimes in Feb..

Foladar: I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience - were you tossed to AssertiveHost from Tomsyer and how long had you been with Tomsyer in certain? Roj

Tell us more about this situation. Did the hosting company update you properly? Was the server hacked or did one of your clients abuse the policy by phishing if so this can change the entire story around!

Is Tom running AssertiveHost, or is AssertiveHost completely unconnected with Tomsyer, aside from buying the client base?

I don't know about whether Tom runs AssertiveHost but he seems to have vanished. It seems his website has also gone over a little logo makeover. Maybe a re-launch? From personal experience, I would not do business with this company. Roj

Having problems with AssertiveHost also. Transfered from Tomsyer(sp) to Assertivehost. New server (sago2) has been unreliable...clients say it has been "down" more than it has been "up". Sent trouble ticket Monday, no response. Sent another ticket 20 minutes ago and writing this on WHT, so it will be interesting to see the response time. Would just like a little communication.

Yes, I was with Tomsyer .. can't say the uptime was great there really, although it was amazing compared to AssertiveHost. I'd been with him for over a year. Quite honestly, no clue what happened to the servers, he claims some kid "hacked" or trashed his server, as he always claims. I'm on the 3rd server in the past two days .. I've also got to say, more DOWN than up.

solution, change host or request them for some uptime statistic before purchasing

I had a question to all of the more technically inclined individuals on this thread. Why don't more web hosting companies have a telephone number for contact? Some of my thoughts... 1) We screw up all the time so I don't want you yelling at me. 2) Don't call tech support when you have billing questions. 3) No, we don't feature (insert name of software) so therefore we do not provide support. 4) What's customer service? 5) My Mom doesn't want you calling. 6) Sometimes your "emergency" is not really an emergency. Any insite?

I'm in the process of changing hosts now .. they refuse to guarentee their uptime!

Posted by Foladar, 03-05-2005, 04:32 AM
DO NOT Touch with a 40-foot long stick. I simply asked them for a refund of my month due to 95% uptime, refused. They stated my account would be terminated, if so. I told them I would move onto a new .. reliable host and they could do so. What do they do? Refund and terminate me, when I asked for tomm .. they sure have a mess on their hands now, since they've caused a client to lose over $15,000 in advertisements already previously.
