how much can a reseller make their first year?

I service other small business with promotional products, and want to add on web hosting to my existing clients, how much can I expect to make my first year reseller webhosting??

There is no set number of how much you will make. It depends if people like your service and how many customers you gain

anywhere from $1 or more would be my guess. If you want a more accurate number then sit down today and write a business plan with what you feel you should make instead. We don't know your market, your plan or anything about what you want to do so honestly my first sentance is the best anyone can provide you.

There's no guarantee s/he'll make that $1 of profit. Losing money is always a possibility.

lol youd have to be really bad to lose money unless you are paying high reseller costs. Find a reliable but fair priced reseller account and you cant go far wrong but dont expect to level with bill gates!

You don't have to be bad to lose money. As monster123 said, you should really sit down and write out a business plan first but then you can always just try it. Quite a few companies have a money back guarantee if canceled within a X number of days.

It's actually very easy to lose money with a reseller account your first year. I would think most resellers would be losing money if they truely tried to cover all their business expenses with income from selling hosting accounts.

You expect us to tell you the amount that you will make from your business? Surely thats for you to work out and control? It depends on many factors, advertising, marketing, website design, how good you plan, creating good impressions on customers, making the customer feel good, keeping the customer, the pricing levels and loads more. Not trying to be nasty and I hope you take these comments well.

if you promoted it very well you will make more then $10,000 per year.

Indeed. Someone on here got like, 1200 clients in 10 months (supposedly). At an average cost of $10, that's like, $12 000 per MONTH! Obviously, it's not likely that this will happen to you, and I doubt a reseller account could handle that many clients, but it CAN be done - if the guy is telling the truth that is

It depends on how well you advertise the company and how the site looks

How long is a bit of string? You could make a massive loss or a massive stash of cash. It depends how good you are at selling at how well you look after your clients

I think if somebody is already trying to count their profit from the first year of business, they are in the wrong mindset. Your focus in the beginning should be on establishing yourself, building brand recognition, focusing on quality and doing everything possible to build a solid foundation for the future. If you are serious about your company and plan to be around for the long haul, you better prepare yourself for small profit (if any), long hours, erratic eating and sleeping schedules, and total dedication. You will need to make many sacrifices, and a pay check might be one of them. That first year can often make or break you, and I'm not talking about from a profit standpoint. Building a solid foundation with your blood, sweat and tears today, will support a healthy and profitable structure in the days to follow. Don't look for the quick profit or instant success. Take it slow and steady. Be patient. Down the road it will pay off. This doesn't mean you can't have a profitable first year. You can, and many do. Just don't make the mistake of counting on it, or basing your overall success or failure on it. Last edited by Gen-T; 01-16-2005 at 01:20 PM.
