Have the Hostgator problems cleared up?

Posted by emills01, 01-13-2005, 01:25 PM
I have been considering Hostgator but was a little leary with the problems I've been reading about on the 2 servers. Has everything pretty much cleared up?

I think they cleared things up. I saw a thread about their problems a few days ago. Try a search for them, I'm sure something will turn up.

Sounds like a lot of people are having problems with hostgator. What is it about them that everyone is having problems with? Hope you have good luck with them, if you do go with them. Roman

They had huge problems with their supra server and some mild ones with acura. They're now sorted out as far as I can tell. You can check things on their forums. They didn't delete the support threads.

I believe it was an e-mail problem but I'm sure that the hostgator guy will come in here and clarify eventually. :-) Roj

We had one server that had hard drive corruption from a ram failure. (supra) Acura was only a few minutes of downtime but had been blown out of proportion because of what happened with supra I'm assuming. The problem with supra resulted in many negative threads on webhostingtalk and as a result of those negative threads ones such as this keep popping up and everyone keeps saying they heard negative things which result in only more negative threads, and we are now stuck in this never-ending cycle we hope to be out of soon. Everything has been back to normal for us for awhile now. =)

Yup, I'm taking my hosting from them, no doubt!

I can confirm that everything has been back to normal for some time now. Supra was a big deal for a lot of people. Supra was a reseller server that burned to pieces Hehe, but seriously, I think they got most of the reseller's account back (if not all) so they could transfer everything to a new server. Supra has been taken down. As for Acura, it was a kernel upgrade that failed if my memory serves well. But they settled that as well. I have been with HG for some months now, and suffered only 1 down-time. They are a great hosting company. Trust me

You can find out what server you are on by looking under server info. in WHM, or alternatively you could just do a whois and check the answer section of the IP Address page. Hope that helps.
