I am pretty beginner when it comes to scripts and ssh knowledge. so plz help me out: I plan to run 2 to 5 wordpress blogs, with no intention of sending mails directly from my server, may be can consider sites such as feedburner for users to register to the feeds but none directly from my end personally. now, do I need to have following scripts running: 1. Dovecot IMAP/POP3 Server 2. Postfix Mail Server if yes why and how would it influence my work ?

They are not scripts as such, but rather programs. However, you have already stated the functions for each server. Dovecot allows a user to login via pop3 or imap to pick up mail.... You will not need this unless you plan to use the server to receive mail, and want pop3/imap access to your inbox. Postfix is used to receive mail from other smtp servers (providing you have mx records) or to send mail out (via php scripts / relaying / etc). Short answer, stop them both if you dont intend to send or receive mail Last edited by matt2kjones; 09-01-2010 at 10:50 AM.
