HostingZoom : The review

Posted by joshuayip, 12-28-2004, 07:35 PM
Hi all, I have decided to jump on the wagon with HostingZoom. I have just signed up 6 hours ago. Went to bed, welcome email is in . Everything is in place. Will come back and give you guys a review on them. Any questions? Joshua

Posted by Martinez, 12-28-2004, 09:37 PM
Please do in a few months Joshua after you've had some ample time to form an opinion based on experience including uptime, support, etc. Good luck!

We'll be glad to read your review on HostingZOOM. The more detailed it is = popcorn and a good reading.

Posted by niyogi, 12-28-2004, 11:07 PM
Actually, a review without popcorn is actually what people need to read. Something that says "It was great and here's why." Popcorn is for those who are looking for twists and turns and some exciting plot behind the story. Most just want their hosting company to *work*. Anyhow, good luck with HostingZoom Joshua! Roj

niyugi: It was a joke. It was a reference towards wanted to read a good review rather than a short, no-reason review.

Posted by niyogi, 12-28-2004, 11:26 PM
Right on. I guess the popcorn was more of sarcasm. Surely the "good reading" part was not a joke. Kinda like a half-and-half thing. Roj

So far, I was surprise caught by surprised on 3 matters 1st : Their reseller come with 1 dedicated IP 2st : response within one hour 3rd : Server is super fast (4MB RAM) Bad point? Maybe some misunderstanding and miscommunication =) Joshua

Posted by AFMichael, 12-29-2004, 01:08 AM
You mean GB and not MB, right?

Posted by joshuayip, 12-29-2004, 01:44 AM
ops... sorry for the error. Is 4GB .

Posted by ioZoom, 12-29-2004, 02:01 AM
Just to make a correction, you get 2 static ip's. The RAM is 4GB as already corrected. Thanks.

Posted by niyogi, 12-29-2004, 02:04 AM
I think static IPs is wrong terminology in the hosting world. Would hate for it to be a dynamic IP. :-P Personal or dedicated IP address is what you mean, I believe. Roj

Posted by ioZoom, 12-29-2004, 02:13 AM
Roj, Yes it's a dedicated, static, unique, fixed ip assigned only to you. I guess there are lots of ways to call it.

Posted by niyogi, 12-29-2004, 02:19 AM
Yes. They're called synonyms and you can usually find them in a thesaurus. However, static doesn't belong (though it's usually wrongly categorized) since it means "doesn't change"; most hosters get it wrong. I believe the confusion comes about because static IPs are an option if you are looking for broadband access and don't want your IP address to *change*. That's when you can call it all of the ones that you mentioned above. Just pointing out a technicality Kiet. ;-) Roj

2 ? Wow... I got free gifts I didnt even know about.... Joshua

Posted by joshuayip, 12-30-2004, 12:13 AM
Setup is within a day. My site is moved. Technical support is within an hour on ticket and , if it is chat, you can hold on and wait while the tech attends to your request (for my case, it was restore my backup) All is still good... =) Joshua

It is almost one month with HZ. Though I have not started to offer my services yet, I continue to work with HostingZoom help desk to see how I am to access to technical support ticket provided opened by my future clients. We have been going to and forth this issue for 2 months plus, that was even before I was their customer. Today , HostingZoom has asked me to test their beta that will enable resellers to view customer's ticket!!! Oh man!! Talk about supporting a business , they really go all the way out man! I can thank them enough for this feature. This means I can sleep at night knowing techical stuff is taken care of by their 24/7 help desk. And I can also be accountable to my client who sends in ticket, knowing what is happening. What more can I want as a reseller.... =) Server uptime's been great. Load been low. Server been real fast too. Thanks for 4GB RAM !!! Highly recommended ! Joshua

Wow... sounds good. joshuayip, since the technical part is kind of taken care of by HZ, what about your sales part may I ask? Do you have sales 24/7? Just see how other do the sales... Thanks for any input.

Posted by niyogi, 01-14-2005, 05:19 AM
Sales is usually not that difficult although if you have that outsourced as well, the same effort might not be put into converting visitors into customers. Roj

Posted by joshuayip, 01-14-2005, 05:26 AM
I would sure hope that can be done. But I do need to sleep a couple of hours ya know. =) . Well, I believe strongly in automation. Website is suppose to give you enough information to make decision. If not, the I have to improve it, make it better. In terms of usability and completeness of information. For now, sales will be during office hour only =) ..ops. for now sales is closed . I am not yet open ...hahaha Joshua

Posted by joshuayip, 01-14-2005, 05:27 AM
Hi Roj , I understand that you have sales outsourced as well (tripod staff right?). May I know the conversion rate that you have. e.g. out of 100 customers, how many signed up? Joshua

Posted by niyogi, 01-14-2005, 05:31 AM
Hi Joshua: E-mail me at niyogi@varhosting.net and we can chat about it. Sales requires a totally different psychology and style than support so it is a bit more difficult. Roj

Posted by Donkey, 01-14-2005, 05:59 AM
niyogi, can't share with us the sales strategy?

Posted by Gen-T, 01-14-2005, 07:39 AM
Joshua, Glad to hear things are going well with HostingZoom. Keep us posted as you move forward. Donkey, Please contact him privately as he suggested, so we keep this thread on topic about HostingZoom. Hahaha..... niyogi

I have one reseller account with RESELLERZOOM.COM 1 mount from now. I very happy with them but I had few issues with them , one still is not resolve, Cpanel backup doesn't work , still waiting ( more than 15 days ) , but they help me to do all I need , backup job with out cpanel backup ( great ). I say from now good price for you get: - Good up time - fast support - They get resolve all your problems quick ( almost ) But I saw in this post they give 2 ips and 4GB of ram for server ??? I have only 1 ip and 1 GB RAM ???? ( I have RZ1 reseller account ) Any one know about that ? I need to ask them ? Thanks

Posted by joshuayip, 01-14-2005, 10:51 PM
Hi macuser, This thread is about HostingZoom , not resellerzoom. But they are the same company. HostingZoom and ResellerZoom offers reseller , but HostingZoom's spec is higher , hence their price is more expensive. 2IP and 4GB RAM is from HostingZoom, not ResellerZoom. Probably you will want to move over to HostingZoom if the price is right for you. I am sure the server is just side by side in the DC

Any updates on the testing?

Posted by joshuayip, 01-14-2005, 11:59 PM
No errors so far. Works like charm. I am able to even reply to my customers ticket if I choose to. The interface is sort of a lite version of their help desk. And this customization they did allows me to receive all the emails conversation. And click reply from my email box to reply to the customer . This also goes into the help desk!!! Yes ! Help desk is ready! Thank you HostingZoom!! I have gone through all the functions in the help desk, and I must say you will be absolutely happy with it. Joshua

Posted by Donkey, 01-15-2005, 12:23 AM
joshuayip, however all the conversation will be kept in HZ's helpdesk system, and will not be in our own helpdesk system (if we have one, such as cerberus or kayako), although they will be forwarded to our mailbox. Correct? Thanks for sharing

Posted by joshuayip, 01-15-2005, 01:33 AM
Yes, thats right. So I will have to put up a custom form for technical support. This way, all technical support email go to them . Although your suggestion is most desirable, I believe I have yet to see two help desk can be bridge in such manner. This was my initial proposal to HZ. Due to the limitation of the help desk (cerberus), this cannot be achieved. However I am most happy about what I have now. Hope this helps Btw, if you have some ideas to achieve this, HZ ppl is most happy to try it out, as long as it doesnt break anything that they are curently implementing. I have made numerous suggestions, and they have come back to me with feedback. It isnt that they will push you aside and not talk to you for a whole month ...hahah Joshua
