yes, Eaccelerator works fine with php 5.3. You can install Eaccelerator in your server and check, if it does not work as expected you can always remove it.

I'm looking for others with experience using this combo. The thing is I don't want to put it on a busy production server. I know there were issues with the prior versions so I'm hesitant.

I've been using 0.9.6 with php 5.2.11 for about a week now and have had no issues.
This was after APC and xcache both gave me serious problems. see here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=940125
In my experience, eaccelerator is the most stable of the caches.

Eaccelerator is, in fact the most stable of the cache systems, yes.
Does it work with 5.3? I haven't heard differently, though I don't use 5.3 (yet).
The real question is Zend and ion. Both products are stalling like mad and haven't released a "stable" 5.3.x product yet, despite it being close to 2 years stable now.
Best bet? Stay away from php 5.3 for now!
