DarkTides fell off the scene?

Posted by HippieMunk, 08-06-2004, 04:35 AM
Does anyone know what happened to DarkTides Communications? Seems like they've fell off the face of the earth. I am posting this because I have a reseller account w/ them, but noticed they don't do any type of news updates, the forums emptied, and they don't even respond to my e-mails anymore! They had a really neat billing system that actually kept track of my payments due, I pre-paid a few months and still receive over-due notices now. Hoping someone here is in touch w/ them, or maybe they're lurking

seems like time to find a new hosting provider... Good Luck

That may be pre-mature. Darktides has been around for a few years and to me it just looks like they halted sales (possibly temporarily?). @Vispix, Did you try submitting a Support Ticket?

I'm not really sure what happened with DarkTides.Net. I saw Bryan around a few weeks ago and he was talking about really kicking the hosting business into to high speed, re-opening sales, doing some advertising and so on. I haven't seen him since though.

I would also agree especially if you are a reseller

Maybe they just halted new sales?

Jeff, Our forums were taken offline due to a vB bug that resulted in abuse; not that we ever used them for support anyways. I've recieved no emails from you what so ever for a long time, I cannot even remember the last one actually. Your last payment was 6/28 for 1 month (July); I'd be more than happy to forward the receipt to you if you'd like. Ino: Correct, since we do everything inhouse code wise, building a complete authorize.net API/Web system from scratch isn't as easy as downloading ModernBill or some other junk and installing and voila... takes time, not that we've needed the sales we're fine. There's also been issues with our Auth.net provider (I think my brother in law "EPCNetworks" posted about it, so that's halted it even more so). I'm not sure what email address you've been sending to, but our on-site and off site emails are fine. If you tried sending it from a web script that'd be the problem, we recently disabled nobody sending email while we investigate a spam incident, which EVERYONE was emailed about roughly 2 days ago... Thanks Vito for giving me the link to this thread.

Hey guys sorry if I made ppl think I was complaining about the services DarkTides provides. This post was NOT to complain, just wondering if maybe something happened, because I couldn't get in touch w/ them via e-mail. I really can't complain about the service and support, that's why I was kinda shocked when I didn't get a reply to my e-mails 10 seconds after I sent them (like I ALWAYS do). Guess i'll have to review my sent mail and see if they even went. Bryan... I could swear I paid to August but i'm not gonna argue, just a mistake on my part the payment for August will be sent. Anyway again sorry to ya Bryan and anyone else who mistook this post for a complaint... honestly DarkTides has been nothing but good to me.. just glad to know they didn't disappear I'll try to get in touch again Bryan. -Jeff

I didn't misunderstand. You made me fully aware that it could simply be a glitch. I'm glad to know that too.

Jeff, No problem... if the email does not go through again try sending to support@darktides-support.net or emergency@darktides-support.net, both are hosted off our server and are operational as backups. Once we figure out the email issue you're having, I'll be more than happy to forward you our last reciept from you so you can compare your records. However, we also have not recieved reciepts from a transaction before, so it could be possible you're correct, we just never got it. I'd encourage you to check your records to double check, and if indeed you did pay but we failed to get the email please forward it over. We've worked with you for a long time, well over 1 1/2 years or so, there'd be no reason why we'd just stop caring. No plans on going anywhere anytime soon. We've said that for over 2 years now.
