Idologic Review

Posted by eliquid, 02-25-2004, 01:11 PM
I've been testing Idologic's services recently and decided to write a review of their services. Currently I am hosting reseller accounts at Dathorn, Bluewho, and UnitedHosting and have had acounts with others. I keep a updated list of resellers that I believe are some of the best (in my needs and wants) and I sometimes post that list here when Newbies or others ask the "which provider should I choose" post. I talked to Jeff and his support people and found they are very knowledgeable about their product and services. I repeated asked "newbie" and "time consuming" questions that I knew the answer to already on purpose at their support desk and found that they not only answered each questions correctly, they didnt have any attitude towards me, gave me advice on how to prevent and why things happen on the server (which I may add i learned more from them on this then from other resellers), and answered all those tickets in under 30 minutes each time. I posted those questions at different hours during the day and for several days at a time. It was refreshing to see someone be able to answer my tickets in a timely manner at any hour and any day, and not care that I was a "newbie" and they were willing to help me on every issue. The idea of "Teach a man to fish, not just give him a fish" on their support issues is truely something missing with many host today that just want to close your ticket with a simple directive answer. Set up was fast as well, under 15 minutes and no hassle or wait to join. I viewed their presale and supprt forum to ensure it wasnt just me they were trying to satisfy.. all questions in those forums answered in the same mannerism as all of mine. I uploaded several large zips, and archives I have on my home computer and found their upload speeds very fast and had no trouble with the server or lost files or timeouts. It was great to see they offer managed dedicated server solutions as well. Knowing I will soon outgrow my large reseller account it is comfortable to know I wont have to now keep and manage a "dedicated provider listing" like I do for resellers currently as I can simply have them move me into a dedicated unit when ready. I even tested the idologic team here at WHT, I pm'd Jeff with support questions through WHT about a problem I have with a reseller account at ANOTHER provider and Jeff was able to respond quickly with a solution that help more than the orig. provider offered! Thats dedication for your resellers, not just for his benefit, but for his resellers in general. Amazingly, I stumbled across some pre-sales tickets in my help desk account I had forgot about from months ago when I first considered idologic but passed on them then for a better pricing option at another reseller. The tickets were there with my current support tickets and I thought "these guys must be great with records" I mean why woudl you keep pre sales tickets from a customer that went else where and hasnt talked to you in months? If they keep records that well, I have no problem handing over my confidential information to them any time. I tried to find a flaw so I could expose it, but I never could on things that matter the most. The service was extremely helpful, the procedures on how they handle things was top notch, and I couldnt find any exploits or holes in their server I was on. Uptime and speed was great and things were done in a manner that Jeff ensured nothing was left untouched after dealing with support. These guys even installed a particular proxy script I havent had anyone before install except one other provider that allows me access to WHM and Cpanel from behind a firewall. They even improved on it and set it up more securely for me and let me use 2 ips for this script for free... truely something that impressed the sh*t out of me. Overall, These guys are top notch... I am for sure recommending them and placing them first on my list of "sure bet" reseller providers.

You get around

Posted by eliquid, 02-25-2004, 01:48 PM
yep, i do Matt.... Gotta make sure i find the best and keep them in mind in case disaster strikes... Always good to have backup plans and by my count I have about 16 backups

First of all I agree with your review 110%. Idologic is one of my favorite 4 resellers (guess who the other 3 are ). Just curious. Why did you remove HTTPme (acquisition?) and Simpli.biz from your list?

Posted by eliquid, 02-25-2004, 03:35 PM
Httpme, yes becuase of the selling. Not that they are out of my book, but I have them on "hold" to see how things go forward with them from here out. Kinda a "wait and see" procedure I do. I did the same with venturesonline when they got their new datacenter, but they did fine so they are back on as you see... For Simpli.biz.. truthfully and not to hurt Erica, but she didnt live up to my personal expectations. Something personal might have happened recently, but I have tried to reach her through email and PM's here with no response from her now for several days and I think that is unprofessional in my case, I searched her name and seen she is posting on the board but not responding to me and the issue I had with her was of information on becoming a affiliate with Simpli.biz... an issue she first contacted me with here at WHM. So with that said, I am sure Simpli.biz is a great outfit and provide great quality.. but under my guidelines they just dont fit anymore.

Fair enough. I must say that is quite an impressive list, this "web hosting addiction" must be contagious Thanks for doing your homework on quality web host providers and I look forward to your future reviews.

Posted by mdrussell, 02-25-2004, 04:08 PM
Maybe you should take us off the list too then...

Posted by UH-Matt, 02-25-2004, 04:10 PM
I was about to say the same thing. HTTPme was "suspended" from your list because of an acquisition by another company already on the list....

Posted by eliquid, 02-25-2004, 04:34 PM
Vox- Matt, I have dealt with you guys before so I feel voxtremes is solid itself, I just dont know what you will be doing with httpme... letting it be its own seperate company controlled by you or merged into yourself no longer being its own.. Httpme is the question for me yet on how you will deal with it.. maybe it will be a spin off managed by someone else? i dont know which is why I left them on suspend so to speak.. and not voxtremes itself

Posted by eliquid, 02-26-2004, 01:11 PM
RossMAN, who is the other 3 ( you can pm them to me if you want)

Posted by idologicJeff, 02-26-2004, 08:49 PM
I think I can guess. RossMAN is very upfront about his views, and we've talked before. I must also admit that RossMAN has provided us with views about where he thinks our shortcomings are in terms of other hosts. I value his opinion, because he is objective and doesn't mince words. Cheers Jeff

i'm curious to know about rossmans picks myself

Posted by seekhosting, 02-27-2004, 12:52 AM
RossMAN, I would be much appreciated if you can let us know the other three hosting companies. This is a very useful reference for us. Best regards

Posted by idologicJeff, 02-27-2004, 01:17 AM
Perhaps, I'll contact him and point him to to this thread. I suspect he hasn't seen your requests because I think lately he has been busy with his own projects. He did leave his valued opinion about his other hosts, and many readers hanging. Cheers Jeff

I checked prior threads and he mentioned httpme and dathorn alot... maybe thats 2 of them.. I think I also saw voxtremes as well

Posted by idologicJeff, 02-27-2004, 11:38 AM
He also mentioned to me lately, that he had tried BlueWho, and that he was very happy with their service. Cheers Jeff

Actually I believe I have seen his name on their forums as I am a member there too, so you are right Jeff

well its nice to see some GOOD reviews for a change! thanks!

Posted by RossMAN, 02-28-2004, 03:16 PM
Jeff, Thank you for PM'ing me with this thread, otherwise I may not have checked up on it again. I'm at an internet cafe with my laptop right now as we're in the middle of moving and I have NO INTERNET ACCESS for another week I made a mistake, there are a total of 3 favorite web hosts and not 3. These are personal favorites based on reviews I have read and personal experience. 1) Idologic.com - Other web hosts offer the same for 1/2 the price but Idologic offers the complete package. Solid service, close to 100% uptime, fast servers, I LOVE THE GLOBAL COMPASS data center, very friendly (although small) forums and best of all ... phenomenal personal tech support. I have never received the level of service I have with Idologic. Since I am relatively new to web hosting, PHP scripts, etc. every little bit helps. Idologic is the only web host I trust to host my personal, family and friends web sites. I've had the pleasure of chatting with Jeff online and on the phone. I've also heard good things about Jeff and Damiaan from vito who went to some get together (WHT?). I see myself being an Idologic customer for a very long time. 2) HTTPme.com - I think the 30000+ rave reviews speak for themself. Aussie Bob knows what he is doing and does it well. I'm pleased that another web host of the same calibur (Voxtreme) acquired them. The .COMmunity continues to astonish and amaze me. 3) clook.net I love the web site, the forums, the server specs, everything. Just wish it were cheaper I have recently referred a few new clients to Jim and they have all been 110% pleased. Jim might have a special around May I'll keep my eyes open Wish I could type more but my wife is giving me "the look", see ya in about a week or so.

This list is exactly what I was looking for. I have been bouncing around from host to host looking for a reliable one. I have been with echolima, milescape and I am currently with p4host. It seems they are all great when you join but the server gets slower and slower over time. I am tired of this. I looked at the sites on your list and it seems the going rate for a decent reseller account is $30. I also see one company, Dathorn, is much lower. I am tempted to go with the lower price, but I like your review of Idologic. Any thoughts?

Posted by bohemian, 03-03-2004, 05:17 PM
scotte, I can recommend highly about idologic, I was moving host to host as you do before I got an account with idologic about 7 month ago, I'm very happy with idologic since then, go with idologic, scotte. I'm just one of happy customers.

Posted by eliquid, 03-04-2004, 10:30 AM
both dathorn and idologic are great companies, however at the time, Idologic was more personal... and gave me better responses on my support tickets and were willing to go out of their way to help me.. Jeff if your reading this, I never got a reply to my last email I sent you that DH replied too.. was wondering your thoughts on the email?

Pretty useful thread. Should have in mind before making final selection. Thanks. -Devil

I apologize. A situation came up where I had to pull all of my staff on board to deal with some existing customers' issues. It's nothing personal; it's just the fact that I had to make the decision to pull my staff member working on the affiliate program off it temporarily. He needed to be able to continue to give excellent support to our existing customers rather than soliciting new ones. Yes, I should have messaged earlier... I've just been extremely busy trying to manage everything over here. I've PM'ed you with more details and an expected go-live date on our affiliate program.

eliquid- I am currently looking to move my reseller business from Interland to a new provider. I am looking at VPSColo.com, 1ahosting.com and realwebhosting.net. You have VPSColo on your short list and not the other two. Also, you DO seem to "get around" Do you know anything about 1ahosting and realwebhosting? Any thoughts on VPSColo? Any advice on who might be best for VPS Reseller hosting (best that is in service, support and staying current with supported softweare packages). Thanks for your great reserach.

Posted by eliquid, 03-09-2004, 10:35 AM
well the 3 I listed are the best... All 3 have excellent support and service with updates on the servers and service to you. To be honest I dont know about 1ahosting or realwebhosting, but just becuase I dont know about them doesnt make them bad in any way.. HOWEVER, if I were going to buy a dishwasher, I would feel safer going with MAGTAG or General Electric or WhirlPool brand than going for a off brand I never heard of and dont have any knowledge/history of. If I was you, Id go with a name that people know of here, Like the 3 I listed.. but test all of them out to see who fits you the best.

Posted by Reseller96, 03-09-2004, 10:40 AM
Thanks eliquid...I definitely agree on the decision point. My livelihood hinges on a stable HSP. So when you say the '3 I listed' are you referring to "Dathorn, Bluewho, and UnitedHosting"?

Posted by eliquid, 03-09-2004, 10:46 AM
Sorry I have another thread where I listed 3 vps providers and must have mixed it up here somehow.. For vps, look at Servint VPScolo Dinix They will be stable and solid for VPS work
