Update apache to 2.2 version

Posted by PirateSolutions, 03-23-2010, 03:37 PM
Hey, My server has an older version of apache which comes with default installation of cP/WHM. How can I update apache to 2.2 version and keep old configuration the same. I tried easyapache but it failed.

Ssh to the server and then run easyapache from the console. The GUI for easyapache using cPanel fails sometimes and does not work all the time.

Hi, Could you update the error with which easyapache failed? You can look it up in the easyapache log file that you can see at '/usr/local/cpanel/logs/easy/apache/build.xxxxxx', where 'build.xxxxx' is the last modified file among all the build.xxxxx files that you may see under /usr/local/cpanel/logs/easy/apache/ . - Techstar.

Since no one said this yet the easyapache binary is in /scripts/easyapache Just run it from there and use your previously saved configuration. Should work just fine. : )

PirateSolutions has already said "I tried easyapache but it failed." . I think everyone missed it. Can you elaborate a bit? Did the easyapache fail with an error or did you mean to say that Apache did not get upgraded even after running easyapache? -Techstar.

I believe it has just builded an old version of apache and php instead of the newest one. Right? Go to SSH and type /scripts/easyapache, then go to "build custom profile" and choose Apache 2.2 there. When you click save and build, give it some time and you will have the newest version of apache installed. Please update us if you get an error to I can help you further.
