Make use of secondary hard disk?

I'd like to make use of a secondary hard disk in my server. I'm a bit of a noob so i don't know what i'm looking for. I want use it to setup daily backups. In the backup option in WHM the current backup location is /backup What would i change this to, to have the accounts back up to the other drive here is the server info regarding physical disks, i'm having a bit of trouble understanding whats what:

You need to partition and format the disk then mount it. If you are a "noob" I would suggest asking the DC or hiring someone to do it for you as if you do it wrong you will delete all your existing data

Based from your filesystem, you dont have any disk2. You only have one partition/disk sda1

It seems that your second harddisk is not mounted on any filesystem yet. Just format it with appropriate filesystem and mount it on /backup. After that, you can use it for backups by configuring in WHM.

I'm going off this tutorial: http://www.yolinux.com/TUTORIALS/Lin...HardDrive.html from the info i gave above my secondary disk is /dev/sda2/ ? any ideas?

Your first post states the following and Now, in your last post, you are partitioning the same drive you surely seem to be messing up things there and may end of loosing data. What is the output of ? This will list the number of drives on your server. Better have someone look into your server...

dev/sdb 230G 188M 218G 1% - mounted on /backup my drive has now been mounted but what is the path to send backups to? /dev/sdb/backup or just /backup
