Unlimited domain hosting recs

Posted by beachgerl, 01-21-2004, 10:07 PM
I know this topic had been discussed or posted to death, but recently I signed up with Imhosted.com. I wish I did the research beforehand, but they've not set up my account yet for 3 days now and heard nothing from them. Their 24/7 toll free phone and online chat are like dead ends. That was when I realized there's fishy about this company so I will try to put a stop to their processing the bill since I only signed up 3 days ago and they haven't done anything so far. I'm looking for unlimited domain hosting with high GB of space and bandwidth (minimum of 4 gb space and 100 gb of bandwidth) to switch to as well as support for many things ranging from mySQL databases with phpMyAdmin to CP (basically everything what Imhosted.com offers). I'm looking into Citadelhost since they are not too different in price range with Imhosted.com. I don't want to spend over 50 bucks a month. What's your recs for unlimited domain hosting and possibly go into reseller hosting down the road. I appreciate for your responses and hopefully this won't bore you to no end. I'm doing research myself but uncertain which companies are trustworthy and reliable (look at Imhosted.com grrr).

You could try www.bgfweb.com they offer 5GB space and 75GB bandwidth for $30 on one of their plans. You can enquire about the extra bandwidth. They also have a few discounts going for this month so you may even get that plan cheaper. Ask at their online help desk, they are online now. They even have a 5 days free trial with nearly instant set-up. Also citadel host seem to have fairly good reviews as well although i have had no dealings with this company. Just find a few that offer what you want, ask alot of questions and go with who you are comfortable with. If the company responds rapidly, and provides good answers and solutions, give them a try. Most have 30 day money back guarantee. Also use the search on these forums for reviews etc.

Most reseller accounts support unlimited domains. Just curious what you would define differently between a reseller account and unlimited-domain hosting account. Anonymity? A billing program being included?

Posted by beachgerl, 01-22-2004, 09:56 AM
Actually, the reason I wanted unlimited domain hosting because I own several domains (more than 5) that's why I wanted to combine all of my domains into one host that support unlimited domains but each domain have their own web space, pop emails, mySQL databases, etc. etc. rather than domain pointers pointing to subdomains or rely on url forwarding service like mydomain.com. I liked HostRocket but unfortunately their packages don't support what I'm looking for. I might become a small host down the road depending on the services I would provide but not right now. So I don't really need automated/indepedent client billing software, but yes, to be an official reseller, it should be included. So far, reading other people's recs and opinions, it seemed that Midphase.com is most reliable for the price. I'm looking into bestreseller.com and it sounded like they have good stuff but have anyone used their service? Fast servers and cust. svc.? If anyone wants virtual/shared hosting with huge webspace and bandwidth, go with ixwebhosting.com but I haven't seen reveiws for this company.

http://www.bluewho.com is very good

But they don't offer 100GB WHM plans for $50/mth. Adrian has one those sustainable business model thingies.

Hi, I also planning to use bgfweb.com for my next Reseller Plans. However, I do not know much about their background. This may be a bit risky. Also, I cannot find the discount information at their website. Best regards

seekhosting, feel free to ask us any questions you might have. we do not want to use wht for this though so you are free to pm me, email us, submit a ticket in our helpdesk, or post in our forums. sale packages are not displayed on our site and the order links are displayed only in the hosting offers forum.

So far, reading other people's recs and opinions, it seemed that Midphase.com is most reliable for the price. ******This is one of the hosts I dont think you would regret. I'm looking into bestreseller.com and it sounded like they have good stuff but have anyone used their service? Fast servers and cust. svc.? *******I was also looking into them but they have had a few negatives If anyone wants virtual/shared hosting with huge webspace and bandwidth, go with ixwebhosting.com but I haven't seen reveiws for this company. ********Search is your friend. They seemed not right for me when i signedup what with changes of names, ownerships etc. I think there was 1 or 2 negatives also. FOR ALL the features u want including billing only one i have seen and considering is MIDPHASE. I have my website with them and have been excellent. U can read my other posts about them also test for yourself http://www.lordhimura.com downloads etc. This company so far is AWESOME and also look at the servers they use DUAL 2.6ghz XEONS. I am still deciding though. The features midphase offers for the price I have not seeen from any other host including citadelhost. Yes they offer 10/100GB but no uptime gaurantee and no software and bunch of other features. AND from personal experience I can tell u that MIDPHASE replied much quicker however CitadelHost have also been good.. So far I am leaning towards MidPhase.. Still searching though.

However ben was very nice thumbs up for him and hope he gets better faster and bigger

Thanks for everyone's responses so far. I'm still in researching mode. I guess I've narrowed down to few choices. I've eliminated Bestreseller.com due to some negativity involved in their personal experiences (it looked like there's like 50/50 or mixed reviews there) and I realized the motto about you get what you pay for. I looked at httpme.com and I can see it's really popular, in biz for 3 yrs, and received many positive reviews, however, their costs are a bit steep for me since I won't be doing any reselling at this time but would keep them in mind if I do any reselling down the road and reap the profits. I narrowed down to for domain hosting: bluewho.com dathorn.com autica.com (midphase) Still uncertain on: vshosting.com (a bit steep) citadelhost.com (not enough info on their homepage) Again, that dream of cheap 10gb/100gb has to be put aside and look at things realistically and compare the customer service, uptime on their servers and features they offer. Good thing is that there's many choices to choose from but it's difficult to find really reliable ones.

I'm sure you've already been in touch with Adrian if Bluewho is still on your list as he doesn't have a plan for 100 G transfer but I'm assuming he's going to create a custom package and quote for you. Concerning the things you mentioned as important: customer service at Bluewho is top-notch; just check out their forum or the praises here. Although I distinctly remember a case when Adrian took a full 17 minutes to reply to a question, he's usually much faster . Just imagine, when they start to decline, their average response time will sink to 20 minutes . To give you a recent example of their level of service, yesterday I asked about a feature that I would have liked to be changed in Mailman but it required root access. Originally I didn't even want to ask for it as it's not something that you can realistically expect a host to do for you (change a 3rd party application to suit your needs). Well, you guessed it, he made the custom modification in less than half an hour. Their server uptime is available in their forum; just checked it and although I haven't made the calculations, I'd say the average is pretty close to 99.9% - well, it's been a rough month, it's usually better than this. Features... I don't remember a feature request declined unless it was impossible (no Windows servers) or not feasible (resource hog). And, as the most famous frog psychologist in the world put it, "Adrian has one of those sustainable business model thingies". Good luck, GDO

You have already listed dathorn.com as a possible choice. $40.50/mo for 6 Gb/90Gb...originally you were looking for 4Gb/100Gb...so that's almost same as your requirements and the price is below $50/mo

I hate hostrocket.... Very UNfriendly.... they simply decided my site was taking too much resources and shut me off without even a word.... after two days of tickets and emails, I got a "your site is taking too much resources". I needed to fight for three more days to get back my files.... I hate hostrocket and counterrecommend it

Posted by shotgun7, 03-31-2004, 02:30 AM
I know this is kind of off topic here....But isnt it against form rules to make offers to people? I am still a newbie here...and just dont want to get in trouble or anything....
