Looking for asian web host

Posted by webmiester, 02-18-2004, 11:54 PM
Hi, do you guys know of any Asian based web hosts you guys can recommend? I know there are quite a number of Australian-based companies, those inputs would be useful too. Price and uptime % are important. Linux and Wondows hosts will be entertained. Thanks

Hi, Actually, most hosting companies in Asia countries are using servers in the US. The Asian local servers are really too expensive! Only those companies target mainly at local customers will use local servers. Best regards

Truely said... I know many hosts, who are from asia but renting servers in USA as its cost effective. Maybe you could tell is in a bit more detail on what you meant by Asian host. Is it for a better ping? or you looking for asian folks working in the hosting company or any others you meant? - Mike

the different time zone may be one of the reasons. Mean while not many companies having TRUE 24/7 supporting service, he wants to have someone in the same working time with him

May i ask why Asian?, is it "Asia" location, or "Asian" owned companies. If you're looking for "asian" language speaking companies, please specify what dialect you need.. simply "asian" is too broad. -Andrew Kao

It sounds to me like webmiester wants a provider operating in about the same time zone, since Australian hosts are also on his radar together with the rest of Asia.

Not true. I know a lot of hosting companies that have local servers.

Actually Im from the Philippines. Yes, my company is hosting with Dathorn currently. I can say that I am quite happy with their service but I would want a little more reliability for some of my mission critical clients. so I figured Ill put up a mirror somewhere else. I think that a mirror site nearer my country would be very beneficial because it will guarantee us good reliability even if our connection to the US is severed. This happened once when a submarine cable to the US of one of our telecommunication companies here broke down, internet traffic became unbearable for a week because the remaining channels were just too flooded. Local Data Centers here are indeed very expensive, and Im thinking Maybe Hong Kong, Korea or Japan might be cheaper. I still need to know if my country has a direct link-up with Australia, cause there's a good chance the signal still passes through the US circuit.

If your ISP has REACH / SingTel / HKIX peering, then you should have direct link to AU via the said transits.
