Which SSL Certificates offer EV?

Posted by N1CK3RS0N, 12-03-2009, 10:58 PM
Hello, I was wondering which SSL certificates offer Extended Validation. The green bar on the address bar in IE, and the blue bar in FF to show that the website has a SSL certificate. The cheapest I could find was GeoTrusts: True BusinessID with EV, for $180.00. http://www.namecheap.com/learn/other...rtificates.asp

I don't know if you are a WHMCS user however if you are, you can sign up for a reseller account with ENOM and get that same SSL a little cheaper.

180.00 is about right for a EV cert they are expensive i dont think there are many cheaper, the cheapest EV cert @ enom.com is 179.99 and thats the one you were looking at. Also in the new firefox any site with a valid cert shows a blue bar then a site with a EV shows a green bar with company name. @EGC-Carlos, if he is a WHMCS user the enom price is $179.95 for the true businessIS w/ IV, Source: I have the WHMCS + enom reseller.

I'm a reseller for Enom for SSL Certs and I can get that cheaper than $179.95, I'm looking at their costs for us resellers right now, I was trying to help him out, thats all.

Every CA has at least one; as far as I know, the cheapest EV cert is the "Premium SSL" from GoDaddy, at $99/year or $150/2 years. Next cheapest is the GeoTrust BusinessID one (it's $174/year at ServerTastic, FYI.) I wouldn't bother with any of the more expensive ones, myself...

Yeah i know you were trying to help him out haha, there are all different price packages i pay 8.95 a domain my friend pays 7.95 so yeah the "True BusinessID with EV for $179.95/yr" https://www.enom.com/secure/default.aspx That's what it says for me may be different for you, sorry if i came across as trying to insult you or comment out your opinion, I wasn't trying to .

Geotrust seems like a good company in my books. I can't stand godaddy. Hopefully I will have an enom account soon. I do have ClientExec and they offer enom accounts now so, we will see.

Hey no worries, when I click on that it shows all the different SSL certs they sell and the EV at least for me is not $179.95

True BusinessID with EV for $399/yr How much do you get them for if your an enom reseller? Also as a enom reseller for domains and ssl certs, are you required to keep any minimum balance?

Posted by EGC-Carlos, 12-03-2009, 11:35 PM
If you sign up through the WHMCS client area you are not require to keep a minimun balance, however when you top up the minimun is $100. I would prefer not to disclose the exact price since I don't want anyone upset.

GoDaddy are evil and annoying, but their SSL certificates are fairly cheap. They can be a PITA to install, from what I remember; something about a half-dozen chained CAs, or something. It was enough of a headache that I won't use 'em again unless I'm forced to - but if you really think you need an EV cert, it might be worth the hassle to save $100/year. Just watch our come renewal time - one of their $12/year certs I purchased from them for a private site two years ago (for two years) just renewed automagically last month... for $30/year...

GeoTrust EV SSL is the best EV currently in market.

which you (try to?) sell (on Digg and Reddit!) for three times what others are charging ($599/year), so you'd definitely be a neutral and unbiased expert, no?
