Web Hosting APIs

Posted by salvedinesh, 05-05-2007, 03:23 AM
Hi All I ahve just joined the group to share the knowledge and gain more in the field of Web hosting. We have to intgerate the plesk control panel with our system. most of user provisioning is done and now we are moveing towards configuring our mail server with the plesk . And the mail boxes created in Plesk will be actually handled by our mail servers..... So for this ...now we will have to send all the mail box usage(pop, imap, webmail) to plesk , so that plesk does show exact mail box or space usage in reports, stats screens...... But to accomplish this we need some API from Plesk , which is not there so Is there any way we can upload mail box usage to plesk database tables....and plesk will show exact figures.... If anybody knows how do we achieve this, please let me know.... Thanx Dinesh

Application Programming Interface - An application programming interface (API) is a set of functions, procedures or classes that an operating system, library or service provides to support requests made by computer programs. Taken from Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/API

In the early days of our online store ( 2004 ) we looked at this and got all the API & install docco from St. George. I'm a php / mysql dev by profession, and it looked like a nightmare to me. We looked at renting rackspace at one stage, because there was no way any hosting company would risk installing this stuff in a shared environment. In the end it just wasn't economical or practical, and we opted for a Westpac / Eway merchant solution and a custom shopping cart plug-in for OSCommerce I had to write from scratch.
