Squid Proxy Showing Client's IP Address
Posted by sam7777, 08-17-2009, 12:19 PM |
I am currently running Squid proxy version 2.6. The problem is that the proxy is showing the internal IP of the clients to the domain resolution sites instead of the Proxy's own IP address. I understand by reading the older threads that I will need to turn off forwarded_for . But even after turning it off the internal IP's are still being shown.
How do I check which header is being sent for IP address of client, and how do I block it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I found solution to it
If we add the following line in my squid.conf file it will not forward the client's IP address
header_access X-Forwarded-For deny all
I thought, I should post it just in case somebody faces a similar issue
By the way can anybody suggest me how to see what headers are being sent to the internet from the proxy.

After some research a while back I found the following settings helped :-)
header_access From deny all
header_access Referer deny all
header_access Server deny all
header_access WWW-Authenticate deny all
header_access X-Forwarded-For deny all
header_access Via deny all
header_access Link deny all
