Chat-Server management

Posted by cascoing, 11-11-2008, 04:32 PM
Chat-Server management Hello FellowMans, I need a help from you. I am planning to implement a chat software for our team. We are currently using AIM. But, we have planned to install any software which works like AIM but it should be controlled by us. Only, we can add or remove users. Only, we can see the chats done. To be frank, I need a software like AIM installed on a server which should be controlled by me. I will add all my team members on it and users like that.. Any help is higly recommended.

Check out Jabber - there are a number of open-source implementations that should do what you need. In certain, OpenFire (http://www.igniterealtime.org/projec...fire/index.jsp) is a very good option. __________________Panopta | Advanced Server Monitoring and Outage Management Solutions Don't just track downtime. Another vote for jabber, it can also be setup to require SSL for all clients which is nice. __________________ John Security and general linux how-to'sTotalServerSolutions - for all your linux server and colocation needs!

Nice recommendation on OpenFire - it is a pretty good solution for specific applications. Cascoing, send me a PM if you would like a little free OpenFire assistance as my time permits. -mike __________________Limestone Networks - Dedicated Server Hosting Premium Network - 24/7/365 Support - Dual Intel Xeon Servers Now Available Dallas Datacenter - Fully Routed Backend Networkhttp://www.limestonenetworks.com 1-877-586-0555
