Voxtreme vs Mchost

Posted by recon, 04-07-2002, 01:55 PM
Currently, I am looking into purchasing a reseller account from either one. Not for reselling purposes, but just for hosting multiple sites. And it turns out, after sifting through the rest of these forums, that these two are very good. But one must be better than the other. I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback about them, or have used both, and would like to share their story =).

Posted by Rochen, 04-07-2002, 02:17 PM
I have never used there services but from what I read of the forums SplashHost aren't too bad either.

Posted by xirus, 04-07-2002, 02:23 PM
I am with MCHost and very satisfied! They had some growing pains months back when they experienced explosive growth but service is now back to excellent. I don't have any experience with Voxtreme and i don't know how long they've been around or if they're through that period yet so i can't speak for them. Have you seen the MChost forums yet?

Posted by acidHL, 04-07-2002, 02:47 PM
MCHost have been great - talking from experience!

Posted by Typhoon, 04-07-2002, 03:19 PM
I'm with Voxtreme and am delighted with their services. I believe Voxtreme are in their 4month of business and seem to be doing well. I don't know about growing pains but the service has been fantastic and their only downtime in the past month appears to have been hacker related and the 2nd incident was dealt with very quickly. If your going to be using support with your host a lot then I would definetly recommend Voxtreme. They are very responsive, the fastest I've seen, nice bunch of guys who are always polite. Vox's costs are pretty good as well. Never used McHost so I couldn't compare. I'm just a very satisfied Voxtreme customer.

You mean i dealt with the second incident quickly Last edited by Alan - Vox; 04-07-2002 at 03:30 PM.

Typhoon must mean the third one

Posted by Typhoon, 04-07-2002, 03:32 PM
Yah sorry about that, I forgot easily

Posted by xirus, 04-07-2002, 03:50 PM
I think the biggest difference is that MCHost does not compete with your business and possibly take your single-domain customers --they dont offer shared hosting packages.

Posted by Typhoon, 04-07-2002, 03:54 PM
Yes they do, but under a different brand. http://www.method5.com

Posted by method5, 04-07-2002, 04:08 PM
Ummm.. no.. I am friends with one of their staff still, and probally always will be.. thats about it.. I have no relation with them other then I bought a reseller account awhile ago when I was waiting on servers to be setup that were delayed?

Posted by MCHost-Marc, 04-07-2002, 04:12 PM
Correct. We only provide reseller plans, not shared hosting accounts. Please, let me know if you have any questions

Posted by decebal, 04-07-2002, 04:27 PM
I'm also suggesting that you look at splashhost.com. Their services are great. Good luck !

Posted by recon, 04-07-2002, 05:43 PM
sure, just complicate matters and stick in another host =) LOL...

Posted by Lats, 04-07-2002, 06:38 PM
Just like you recon, I have my Voxtreme account for hosting my own sites, and a couple of friends. The people there are very good, and I'm quite happy. Lats...

method5 - I'm confused. A whois shows method5.com is owned by a Jason Mansfield. Someone here http://groups.google.com/groups?q=me...gle.com&rnum=1 calling him self Jason Mansfield confirms this he owns method5. But a page cached at http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Ja...en&sa=N&tab=gw shows Jason Mansfield as 'MCHost Staff'. Funny enough, method5 servers are the same names as the ones listed on the Mchost forum pages. Care to rephrase that bit about "I have no relation with them other then I bought a reseller account awhile ago" and then maybe explain what the relationship actually is? SB

Posted by Hostbust, 04-08-2002, 11:59 AM
Jason has has admin'd server's for me, does that mean he owns my company also? LOL Damn, this is like a soap opera...

Posted by starburst, 04-08-2002, 12:19 PM
Not at all. However, in this case he does say he owns method5. Well, soap does make you slippery ..... SB

Posted by Hostbust, 04-08-2002, 03:33 PM
Who says he owns method5? I know the owner, Patrick, I remember Jason trying to help get one of Method's servers off of a BHL, I think you are confusing the way people work on the web, with who runs what, and what is connected to who. If I remember correctly I think Patrick said his first 2 servers were with MChost and that was one of them.. so jason was trying to get it off the black hole list for him.

Posted by IceDogg, 04-08-2002, 03:52 PM
Dude, you have waaaaaaaaaaay too much time on your hands. Maybe you should look into getting yourself a hobby or something.

Posted by method5, 04-08-2002, 03:53 PM
That is correct read above quote.. and to clarify.. it was first 3 servers :-) heh. other then that.. hostbust is correct. Last edited by method5; 04-08-2002 at 03:59 PM.

Looks like a stalker to me (Stalkbust)

Posted by IceDogg, 04-08-2002, 03:58 PM
I looked into Voxtreme, Splashhost and MCHost before signing up with MCHost. I am convinced that all three of these companies are excellent and you would most likely be happy with any one of them. After researching for a couple of weeks I decided to go with MCHost. No regrets...

Posted by starburst, 04-08-2002, 04:31 PM
method5: In this post by you, http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...447#post149447 , your sig says you are Jason Mansfield. ------------------------- quote "Elijah John S.T, A copy is on its way to that email address. Jason Mansfield - jason@mchost.com MCHost Inc. - Experts in Private Label Reseller Plans http://www.mchost.com" ------------------------ In the previous page of the same thread above, Kiwi says "please email Jason (jason@mchost.com), one of our programmers " .... and you still say I have no relation with them other then I bought a reseller account awhile ago ? Who are you guys trying to fool? It is quite obvious that you currently work for Kiwi as Support at MCHost. Ask Kiwi to come here and flatly deny that. Nice game you are playing but telling fibs and getting a few mates to wade in ain't doing your credibility (or that of McHost) any good. SB

Posted by recon, 04-08-2002, 06:19 PM
IceDogg: what ended up swaying you to MChost? And does anyone know if MChost has any kidn of money back guarantee like Vox does?

Posted by xirus, 04-08-2002, 06:25 PM
What is with this post? Yeah, they do offer a 30 days money back guarantee and also money back when the uptime isn't met, i believe.

Posted by phptalk, 04-08-2002, 06:47 PM
I dont have much info about Voxtreme but Mchost is one of the best, you can be sure...

Posted by appletreats, 04-08-2002, 06:59 PM
Voxtreme... voxtreme... I'll recommend them. I haven't used MCHost, but Voxtreme, aside from downtime issues caused by DDoS attacks/hackers/various other problems they're very good, usually pretty fast support. Downtime problems are mostly just in the past few weeks, and seem to be going away.

Posted by IceDogg, 04-08-2002, 07:33 PM
It was VERY close. In fact, so close that the "swaying" toward MCHost came down to the fact that they're in North America. Rightly or wrongly, I convinced myself that would possibly allow for the best service responses since we're in relatively the same time zone. Additionally, their servers are located in the U.S. This is important to me. (SplashHost and Voxtreme may also be, I'm not sure. This was not a decision maker, just an added plus). Sorry I can't give more convincing reasons to go with MCHost. In fact, I don't really care who you go with since I don't benefit in any way. Simply sharing my opinion. My suggestion is that if you have these three in mind, flip a coin. All three are good companies. Good luck.

Posted by appletreats, 04-08-2002, 07:35 PM
Well, Voxtreme has 24x7 support, and their servers are all in the US. Not that it matters.

I'm helping managing a friends reseller account at splash host. I must tell you, they are great! Alan is a great guy, he is very handy and quick to respond, he knows what he is doing, and the new helper he assigned, scott, is also nice and responsive. I didn't notice one downtime at all and the servers are blazing. Its a Top-quality servers on top-quality network, with top-quality support, all that brings top-quality performance. I would suggest go with SplashHost. In the splash host forms I've seen one or a few costumers who went to splash host because of support Issues with MCHost. I can't tell you anything about voxtreme. just dont know what they are like, but matt from voxtreme also seems like a nice guy here on the forums. I don't think you can make a mistake going with either of them, but I promise you that, splash host are the top. alan has a great thing going. just my 2 cents.

Posted by exbabylon, 04-08-2002, 08:11 PM
After needing to make a fast decision on a host because of my previous host going down I decided upon MCHost for a few reasons. Time in business Support Recent Stability & History of problems they were able to overcome 30 Day Money Back & 99% Guarantee Dedicated to one thing... specialized After doing a lot of reading I haven't come up with any host that is "better" than the other as such. But I do like MCHost's method of customer support.... open forums, custom scripting available to resellers, a fairly large staff, etc.

Posted by starburst, 04-21-2002, 01:15 PM
12 days later and no denial from Kiwi. OK - let the record now show that Jason Mansfield, who owns and runs method5.com, also works for MCHost, where is one of the Support Staff 'supporting' customers who are in competition to his own hosting business. Hmmm .... SB.

Posted by MCHost-Marc, 04-21-2002, 02:49 PM
Jason Mansfield no longer works for MCHost.

Posted by Aussie Bob, 04-21-2002, 07:48 PM
scratches head and wonders what's wrong with this* I work in a few of my friend's businesses and they help me out with mine. No big deal.

Posted by MCHost-Marc, 04-21-2002, 07:50 PM
hoping his reply above won't vanish in 40 pages of replies*

Posted by Aussie Bob, 04-21-2002, 08:46 PM
whistles* Honestly, I still don't see the problem with folks that run their own hosting business, working in someone elses or even working in eachother's business. It makes sense to team up and share knowledge and resources. Many years ago I ran my own construction company. Had 8 full time staff and a labor force of 50 to 100. It would have been marvellous if there was a system in place like there is on the net, where you can call on your piers for knowledge or resources. We are competitors but we can also be incredible assets to eachother.

Posted by Hostbust, 04-21-2002, 09:16 PM
You still have no clue lol

Posted by Coder, 04-22-2002, 09:21 AM
It's one thing to help someone out, it's another to completely lie about it when someone asks. Maybe the all the staff at McHost are just people helping them out

Posted by Hostbust, 04-22-2002, 09:27 AM
Doesnt work for Mchost???

Posted by WCSWEB, 04-22-2002, 09:54 AM
I think that method5.com has alot to do with mchost if you look at their status page it list most of mchosts servers. http://www.method5.com/status/ Also the network section on mchost.com and method5.com its about 85% identical

Posted by starburst, 04-22-2002, 11:17 AM
You are missing the point. The point is that Jason Mansfield of method5 told lies in trying to hide that he worked for MCHost. To quote him earlier in this thread "I have no relation with them other then I bought a reseller account awhile ago when I was waiting on servers to be setup that were delayed". Blantant lie and he was caught out trying to cover it up. He also called on at least one mate to try and cover for him but the smoking gun caught them out. BTW, without labouring the point and just to give Kiwi the chance to clear up any misunderstanding lest anyone thinks he was backing up the fibber, Kiwi - could you just clarify that when you said "Correct" after Jason's denial, were you responded to his reply or xirus's post? SB.

Posted by MCHost-Marc, 04-22-2002, 11:34 AM
Did anyone read my post above? - Method5.com is in no way related to us other than they have a reseller account on one of our servers. - All our staff are working for MCHost full-time. - Jason Mansfield does not work for MCHost anymore (there is a thread about this in our resellers-only forum). I hope that is cleared up

Posted by SoftWareRevue, 04-22-2002, 11:59 AM
No. Well, okay. I did just now. But now I have to go to page one and read the whole thread. I didn't want to read the whole thread. But something is forcing me to. What's going on here? Enquiring minds want to know.

Posted by Coder, 04-22-2002, 12:03 PM
If they only have a reseller account on one of your servers, then why does the method5 network status list lots of McHost's servers. Perhaps it's just coincedence that they call their servers the same as McHost call theirs ?

Posted by Rochen, 04-22-2002, 12:05 PM
Perhaps they list all the servers to try and make them look bigger than they are?

Posted by MCHost-Marc, 04-22-2002, 12:38 PM
A lot of our clients list all of our servers on their status page.

Posted by SoftWareRevue, 04-22-2002, 12:39 PM
Okay. Finally back from reading this thread. I think we could get rid of about three pages that don't have a lot to do with the original thread starters question on Voxtreme vs Mchost. Most of it seems to do with one person's obsession. I don't have experience with either one. They both (well seems like there are three now) seem like they would be a fine choice; if I had to choose. But, I'm not choosing. Good luck, recon.

Posted by Rochen, 04-22-2002, 01:11 PM
In my view this thread should be brought back on topic or a MOD should lock it. Marc has explained the situation and that is all we need to know. It is none of our business why Jason left MCHost and if you lot are so concerned as to why Method5 has all those servers listed why not email them and ask...

Posted by fosterlabs, 04-22-2002, 02:10 PM
This may be a bit soon to post but I signed up with MCHost last week and so far they have great support and quick responses to my questions. I watched their customer support forums for about 2 weeks before signing up with them. And I was impressed by the way they were handling any problems that came up.... even with the little Las Vagas server problem. (server problems are part of an ever growing company) and as an added note..I was using an Alabanaza reseller before I switched..and so far it seams the speed difference is amazingly better now with MCHost... Also I've had no server downtime yet (I chalk this up to getting on their new servers in the Atlanta datacenter ) just my 2cents worth -Jeremy Last edited by Chicken; 04-22-2002 at 07:06 PM.

Hello all, heh =) nice to have this as one of the big posts.. but anyways I had decided on Voxtreme, although I haven't purchased it, but I was going to go with them, firstly because of the amazing reply time in support e-mails (less than 5 mins)... and the price difference, it's about $10. Now, reading for the past couple of days, it looks like Voxtreme is having quite a lot of downtime. Hmmm.... now, this adds a new element. Is this only for a brief period of time, or is it going to keep on going. It seems as though there are a lot of disgruntled customers, ranting and raving about hours upon hours of downtime. So once again, I am stuck, unsure of what to do.

Posted by Change, 04-22-2002, 10:12 PM
I'm in the same boat as you recon, but I think I will stay at Voxtreme as I think they handled the situation very well. It does make me doubt about paying yearly or monthly tho.. it's just that the yearly package saves $90

What about SurrenderOnline.com who seems to have similar type reseller arrangements as those above? Has anyone ever tried them...?
