help, DNS not working
Posted by xcpd, 08-20-2008, 06:40 AM |
Hi,
I moved my sites to a server in Spain. They were previously hosted with a company in the US. Now, with the server in Spain, DNS is not working. My sites do not resolve. Dns is enabled and set up (correctly I think).
My DNS servers are dns1.hostingzero.net & dns2.hostingzero.net. Can anyone tell me what's wrong with them?
Thanks!

Have you modified the settings at your domain registrar to point to your new name servers?

Hi,
Go to intodns.com and test your domains, it will help you identify where your problems are.. Check also your logs.

Hi,
Thanks everyone for your help. I forgot to mention that I am behind a router and the sever has a local IP. From my research, port 53 is blocked by something, maybe the router?
I tried connecting from telnet, but I get connection refused.
root@liberty:~# telnet 213.37.5.8 53
Trying 213.37.5.8...
telnet: connect to address 213.37.5.8: Connection refused
I get this, although named is running fine on the server and I can connect to port 53 locally.
Any ideas how to unblock port 53?
Thank you!

Port forward port 53 in your router to the local IP of the machine that holds the dns software.
