Hi all, hope that i post in the right forum. I'm newbie. I tried to install Joomla verion 1.0.x, however, the first screen appears is to tell me that there is problem with my server. Here's the problem. i31.tinypic.com/1sb449.jpg Please tell me how to solve it. Thank you.

All it wants is for those directories/files its complaining about to be writable. You should be able to set them so using whatever you used to upload them. Last edited by hermetek; 05-15-2008 at 11:12 PM.

You have to give wite permission(775) to the unwirteable file/folders. After installation you can reset the permission.

Write permissions will vary by their server setup, Apache's user may only be considered "other" in their situation. In that case, full write permissions would be 777. On Joomla, some folders will always need write access, too, and revoking those permissions will cause problems in the future. Additionally, general security understanding is to use the most restrictive permissions possible. If we knew more about the server setup then we could give some more direction.

do you have a control panel installed on the server?

Or install suphp will make 755 is writable

yes I have a control panel. Which one should I set permission to 777? All folders and files in /public_html? Thanks a lot

No, you don't need to set all folders to 777. Just chmod the folders in the "red" color said "unwritable" only. Files don't need to chmod at all

now another problem: " configuration.php Unwriteable" I can't find this file configuration.php anywhere in the sever, instead there is a configuration.php-dist, but when I rename this file, I receive error. what happen?
