Greetings! Yes, it's very possible. You'll just need to make sure that the software that you're running is compatible with the Operating system powering your VPS. MOST software should support 32 bit and 64 bit, though some drivers may be different (hence two different variants of your software). Also, check to see that your software works on the specific Windows version (Such as 2003 vs 2008). I hope you're not with someone running Windows NT or 2000, since both OSes are pretty archaic and outdated. Good luck!

What you need to do is reconfigure your session to keep you logged in. When you're done working on your remote system, X out, rather than logging out. See http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;216783 for instructions, IF you're using Windows 2003.

If you plan to run a lot of video encoding and not just once or twice a month, VPS won't do for you since the encoding is very resource demanding process and with shared environment like VPS you'll end up having problems. I'd suggest a dedicated box where you can eat as much as you want

yes, you can definitely do this on any windows VPS. I would just make sure that you're getting one that's not terribly oversold. If there are too many users on a given machine, you won't get enough cpu to do your video conversions in a reasonable time frame.

Instead of RDPing into the VPS, I recommend installing LogMeIn or similar so you see the "console" instead of creating a unique session by RDPing.

famatech remote administrator or tightvnc are similarly good options for the same goal
