Hello I'm finding a storage server or vps , with min 10TB with RAID protect data with budget ~ $100 And I founded ovh but I don't understand ( 3 x 4 TB SOFT/JBOD ) or (5 x6TB of SAS SOFT/JBOD ) https://www.ovh.com/us/dedicated-servers/storage/ - What's RAID level - How many Disk Space Can I use with each dedicated Great thank

Are you saying you don't understand RAID arrays in general, or just OVH's offer?

in OVH's product description only

JBOD means "Just a Bunch Of Disks" -- the disks are presented to the OS via BIOS, and if you want RAID you're going to then have to utilize some form of SOFTware raid. There is no RAID level - you get to pick it for yourself with that setup. If you do not know what JBOD means then asking about RAID levels is premature. You need to hire yourself a sysadmin, tell them what you want, and then listen to that persons advice.

If you are not understanding the lingo, what setup do you currently have? What type of "RAID Protection" are you looking for, RAID10? If that is the case you would need at least 4 hard drives. With 3x 4TB the only way to max size the HDs is with RAID0, but then you wouldn't have any "RAID Protection", because if one drive fails you would loose everything. Looks like you would need to learn what RAID is first

It's the old bug repellent commercial. Where the bugs look up and yell, "RAID!!!"

The storage server requirement is not defined by you so it is hard to judge! JBOD is simple as it sounds. It is disk subsystem that holds multiple hard drives. The drives are configured in a RAID array to create one huge disk partition. JBOD can have multiple interfaces like SAS, SATA or SCSI. Storage area networks data are backed-up in JBOD from there it is copied to an offline media. Thus 5 x6TB of SAS SOFT/JBOD means there are 5 disk drives each 6TB connected via JBOD using SAS interface. RAID level helps to secure your data helps in data protection in system failure. I hoe this clears your doubt!
