Hi, Some how one of our server is not trying to connect to external server when sending email. I can ping or do nslookup without any problem. Here is the command I am trying and it is not connecting to external mail server, but incoming works fine. /scripts]# echo testing | mail -v abx....@gmail.com LOG: MAIN <= root@servername.com U=root P=local S=36 Do you guys know what may be the problem?

is that the rest of the log file? It's not very helpful. Linux ?: tail -f /var/log/exim_mainlog FreeBSD: tail -f /var/log/exim/mainlog Rerun the command above while tailing the correct log file and post the output here.

That's the very last line from when you try to send an email? Even if it times out, it should still produce an error message... Have you checked the Exim mail queue to see if the message is there, then try to deliver it and see what error message you get?

There is no error messages, but mails are in the queue. What may be the prolbem?

Strange that there are no error messages... Have you made any recent changes to your firewall rulesets? Try: telnet gsmtp163.google.com 25 Does that connect properly?

Make sure gmail.com is resolving from iside your server. #dig mx gmail.com also you can try re-installing exim mail server using #/scripts/eximup --force

Yes, it is working fine some how it is not connecting to the server using exim. I have no clue where the problem is. I have resintalled exim and didn't help. Any help should be appreciated.

Is it a cpanel and it worked before it automatically upgraded to cpanel11? If yes, then you just need to force courier/exim daemon, more details are in cpanel official forums, a lot of peoplr faced email unaccessible on cpanel serveres after upgrade.

try to check your firewall ports or try to disable the firewall and retry again if you are running APF service apf service apf stop /scripts/updatenow /scripts/sysup /scripts/reseteximtodefaults /scripts/eximup --force ps ax | grep apf

Do you see "unrouteable domain gmail.com" in the server logs? If yes, try changing the resolver nameservers of your server.
