Clearing logs and tmp (cPanel)

Posted by WiMAX, 08-24-2007, 11:13 PM
I have a cPanel website, its /tmp and /logs directories have taken large amount of disk space now. What is the best way to clear the /tmp and /logs directory safely without causing any issues ? Analog, AWstats and Webalizer are enabled for this website. I guess most of the files belong to them. So is there any way to clear them without causing those statistics softwares to have any issues ? I have root access also to this server. Last edited by sirius; 08-25-2007 at 08:52 AM.

You can safely delete the stats related files from the /tmp directory. Also use the following command to remove the session files rm -rf sess_*

Dear WiMAX, I assume you are talking about user account. If you want to delete files from /tmp folder be very careful as they contain AwStats and Webalizer information and statistics. Best Regards.

Oh, if you are saying about single account as Tom says, you should not remove stats directories. You can get into the directory and see if any cache files are taking much disk space and remove it safely.
