Looking for a dedicated server

Posted by botimeshqip, 11-29-2016, 08:44 AM
Hello, I'm looking for a solution where all my websites are stored in the same server. Till now I have operated having one Managed VPS with Futurehosting (I'm very happy with them), another managed VPS with KnownHost (happy too) and few sharing hosts. It is the time I have decided to go for all my websites in only one dedicated server, preferably in Europe. The websites I have are: At Knownhost (The platform used here is Nginx + Apache ) One Wordpress which has around 50.000 - 100.000 visitors per day. Some time its SQL service goes down (probably the reason is not good optimization as said by them). At Futurehosting (The platform used here is Nginx + Apache ) One Wordpress with 20.000 - 30.000 visitors per day. One Prestashop with 2.000 - 5.000 visitors per day. Several other wordpress sites (maximum 10) with no more than 1.000 visitors per day (all together). However some time the SQL server goes down. At other shared host I have 5 Wordpress sites and 2-3 static html websites with no more than 1000 visits per day. Potentially number of visits can increase. Please help me with some recommendations, I really need some expert judgment. Thank you

If you move all of your sites together and the SQL service goes down again due to poor optimization, all your sites will be down this time, not only one. It's best to solve your current problems, since if you simply move to a different hosting solution, you will simply take the problem with you.

Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it. The fact I'm looking for a dedicated server is not related to the fact I'm having problems with SQL services issues. With the money I'm spending in two different VPS and some shared hosting I'm pretty sure I can find a better and stable solution.

If you are looking for a good provider, I can recommend HostWithLove. They offer fully managed Dedicated servers in Europe/UK. Their service and support is among the best I have experienced, very friendly and informative. Your sites will be in good hands if you choose to go with them.

What is your total monthly budget? Also, I am assuming when you say you are looking for recommendations, you are looking for hardware recommendations?

Yes, you are right. I have given details on my websites because I need recommendations for hardware specifications as well. My monthly budget is around 150$ (plus/minus) Thank you

You would probably make it with a dedicated server that has 4 SSDs in configured in RAID 10 or any other raid configuration that would give you fast and stable performance. However, if your websites require a large amount of computing resources to work properly, you might nor be able to make it on stand-alone physical server. Then you'd need some from of Cloud infrastructure solution.

I have not used there services, but since you have been happy with them; 1. Do they have locations in Europe? 2. Do they have a US location close to Europe? As suggested...before moving, fix the current issues first. Moving everything to one server before fixing the issues will just combine your issues into a bigger one. If you hire a service to fix your current issues...make a list of these things that will help; 1. Rules to block bots and xmlrpc/wp-login attacks 2. Changing to MariaDB. It replaces MySqL 3. Security. Good security measures can be put into place to everything

Why don't you just pick the better of the two providers you are with currently and get a dedicated server with one of them? They will be able to help you migrate your sites to the server and get you all setup. If you go with a decent size server you shouldn't have any issues with that kind of traffic at all.

I will suggest you for cloud VPS rather then Dedicated server as its also have Dedicated Resources which dedicated to your website t’s nearly identical to how a dedicated server operates. second thing is Scalability ,unlike dedicated servers, Cloud VPS is easily more scalable . Third thing is High-Speed SSD Storage (if one node fails, your Cloud VPS is automatically moved to another node) So you will face minimum downtime and the key thing is Full Control of root access means you can install your own control panel or OS. and according to your requirement cloud VPS is more then enough and will cost you approx $150 .
