What web server are you running. Have you installed any control panel. Provide some more details so readers here can offer more help.

A Google search for "optimize vps for wordpress" returns about 197,000 results. If you want to do things yourself, check out the results - there are multiple tutorials and step-by-step guides. There is a also a VPS Tutorials forum on WHT: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=108 If you don't have the experience or if you are afraid you will mess things up, either hire someone to optimize the server for you, or go to a managed VPS provider.

As suggested there are many online tutorials, but you will need to cross-reference them and read the comments. Many of them will leave you with more security issues than performace.

Can you info : 1. Current, what the issue you getting? 2. What kinf o webserver you using ? 3. How about the content of your website and max uniq visitors/pageview of your website?

I would recommend to hire someone to do it for you. Playing the optimization on your server without knowledge on what you are doing can just cause issue with security and performance overall.

choose nginx (engine x) instead of apache or cloudflare. if you are facing to manage server than hire third party system admin which is cheap for you

Enable compression, use less plugin and light weight images. It will improve speed.

I think that first of all you need to decide (learn) what kind of optimization you need for your wordpress? And then as suggested ask your company to do that for you (even if that is paid).

choose varnish as a cache web server + nginx as a reverse proxy + apache web server for web server optimisation. use w3cache plugin + memcache + memecached for mysql optimisation and cache check performance on thirdparty tools like tools.pingdom or gtmetix.com to check site speed status . if you have no idea how to do that , hire someone who can do these for you.
