Would you try to fix this ob a small VPS package? Customer Ticket: "I updated to mariadb, and nothing worked. Tried to get it off. made things worse. I have a full backup, recent, on Amazon S3, but it won't work, db issues. I see no other option other than a os reload If you know better, let me know. If you put the base system, and send me a root pass, I can reinstall Cpanel/WHM myself. I'm sorry I made another mess." "BTW, you did notice that in the original ticket this started because the mariabb didn't work for me and I was trying a how to to remove it and use MySQL? I communicate poorly as well as make stupid mistakes. Cpanel said "not to try ,{inserted by me for clarity original said 'Cpanel said not in the forums},but this hxxps://xx***********/2015/01/02/switching-from-mariadb-to-mysql-on-cpanel-and-cloudlinux/ said I could." Support Response "Before attempting to reload the OS from scratch, or restoring the server, I would like to try addressing this issue. From what I can see, it appears that you have removed the rpms for the upgrade. I may be able to address that within WHM, but I am unable to login from this end. Would you mind updating your your WHM login information within your portal, or this ticket? In the interim, I am attempting to restore the broken version of the software through cPanel scripts. "

I would try to fix it, but that all depends on how much time you're willing to invest in this really. That's what happens when people start running commands on servers that they do not know :|. If hes content on just restoring it from backup, that would def be the easiest option.
