Moving multiple cpanel accounts from dedicated server to WHM reseller account

Hi, Recently i across this topic and would like to start a discussion about it. May be its been discussed earlier but want to bring about a solution to this problem through this thread. Since we see a growing demand for these kinds of requests from clients. Is it possible to move multiple cpanel accounts (say 50 accounts for example) from a linux dedicated server with WHM root access to a normal WHM reseller hosting account in one shot. Meaning, an entire backup of the dedicated server will be used to restore the 50 accounts into reseller hosting account without root access. Hoping for good suggestions and if possible a resolution for the same. Many in need of this info and i am pretty sure it will be useful for all.

Yes. Its Possible. What you need to do is just ask your Host ( on second server ) to do it. Alternatively , you can restore EACH account manually via cpanel restore feature. use the transfer feature in WHM, then contact your reseller provider to ask for help regarding the transfer of the account to the reseller that they provide.

All the links provided are talking about transfer from reseller account to dedicated server or from one server to another server. The topic of discussion is the reverse of this. Is it possible to transfer from a dedicated server to a reseller account. One by one all the cpanel accounts can be restored but is there any method so that it can be done in one shot.

Yeah. You'll need to get a backup of all the accounts (which is possible simply using cPanel backups). Then you need to go ahead and put them all in the same directory. Then rsync/scp the directory over to the reseller account. Now you'll need to ask your provider to restore all the accounts. Resellers unfortunately don't have the necessary access permissions to restore these accounts themselves. Hope this helps.

You need to depend on reseller hosting provider. If your reseller hosting provider have root access of server, they can do this for you. Before placing order for new reseller hosting, confirm this from hosting provider. Many reseller hosting provider have limitation of size/number of free account transfer.
