crunchhost.com down?

Posted by veritastr, 08-12-2011, 07:07 AM
Anyone know anything about crunchhost.com? I bought some package after reading the post in announcements in the forum. I cannot reach the host for 3 days by now. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks...

The web site doesn't load. 3 days of downtime is much.

Maybe their adveritising on WHT was just too successful and they couldn't keep up with the flood of clients?

Not loading for me either, looks like they are based out of egypt, so depending on where you are located it might not be worth it to try giving them a call. Also, it doesn't look like they have been around very long, so maybe its safe to assume they have gone out of business? Either way, they are not proving to be very reliable, so maybe its time to look for a new host?

i don't care much about the money, but all the coding i've done seems to be lost in space.

You don't have any backups? If you get lucky and they come back online, the first thing you need to do is make a backup of your data.. Also, 3 days of downtime without any kind of notice is really bad.. I would start looking for a more reliable host if I were you.

I'm not getting any DNS records back from their nameservers: It looks to me like the server with DNS is offline, I'm guessing it's the same server as the web server (it usually is, especially for smaller providers). Maybe they will come back online, but I wouldn't hold my breath. If you were working on coding server-side without a backup consider this a lesson learned. I'd say November 5th you'll know for sure if they're gone: Best of luck.

Did you ever happen to get an ip address from your web server or it might still be cached in your pc's dns just ping your website address and see if you can connect to it. Unless specifically stated backups are customer's responsibility most of the time. Some do it for a small price, but still you need to keep your own copies.

Hi, the server is down since hetzner have new rules now,and ch has have been hosted warez there, that's why the server is blocked.

Posted by veritastr, 08-12-2011, 02:22 PM
I see now. Thank you for the information. Can you guess if my web site will be online again? Or any chance to get my files back?

Posted by Hetzner_Online, 08-12-2011, 03:16 PM
I'm currently not aware of any new rules - but anyway - please do not host warez with us. Thank you.

It's not a new rule. Hetzner has the same TOS from the beginning.

None would be able to guess unless you or your host posts some new feedbacks. Have you tried contacting them?

Posted by veritastr, 08-12-2011, 04:41 PM
All contact options i have are down with the server. I'll try forum pm's now.

Can you help with getting my files back? I didn't have anything related to warez.

Simple suggestion, you need to deal with your host, especially since you don't own that server.

WHT forum PM is a good idea. Or, according to whois data at who.godaddy.com/whois.aspx?domain=crunchhost.com&prog_id=GoDaddy, their phone number is +20.20106427637 and the owner's email is host_feder@hotmail.com. But remember: you're more likely to get a sympathetic response if you don't phone at 1am Cairo time! In all honesty, hard though it is to hear, there comes a point when you have to cut your losses and find a new host. If you can remember how you did the coding, it will take muich less time 2nd time around. If they were experiencing downtime that is unusually long, you can see how they might argue it's reasonable for their ticke system to be down. But if the owner's email / phone get no response after a reasonable timeframe, you'd be within your rights to seek a refund through your payment provider.
