Looking for reseller hosting.

Posted by HelpMeImANoob, 08-26-2013, 04:22 PM
I have been doing web design for a few years now, but never bothered getting into hosting and just worked with a guy I knew who would give me some money for each referral. Unfortunately he recently had to retire for health reasons and sold of his business, so I thought it was a good time to start out myself. Most of my sites will be hosted in Europe, primarily Austria, Italy, France, Spain etc. None of the sites get high traffic and are there just for information (though eventually, I would also like to host sites for Mexican and US small businesses too). I doubt any get more than a handful of hits per day. I have used hosting many times in the past, but never reseller hosting, so I would hope for something uncomplicated. While most of my clients will use me for any updates to the website, each site would obviously need a control panel in order to set up new email accounts per domain or update files if the client decided to do so. Every reseller account I have seen, expensive or cheap has promised the same 99.99% uptime, fast servers, etc, but without experience, I was hoping one of you marvelous people could help me. Edit: Forgot to add that price is important and I do not need much more than 500mb, and 10gb data per month right now. I would like to be able to upgrade that reasonably soon though, so perhaps something on a sliding scale would work well for me.

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=130 might be a good place to start building a shortlist. I'm not very familiar with Europe based reseller providers myself, but many on the forum recommend InnoHosting or EuroVPS - they might be worth a look. InnoHosting also offers end-user support, this could be beneficial if hosting will remain a side project for you.

Never even thought about end-user support. Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I have more research to do!

I recommend CrocWeb, I had great uptime and great support with them when I used them. Good luck.

Mee too. My vote for crocweb. Their price is decent and support is wonderful. Server located in Canada.

You're only as good as your upstream provider when reselling hosting services. Make sure you pick the right one(s).. We've used MDDHosting for a few years now and they truly are an excellent provider.

It sucks though, in order to get the best deal on the advertise priced, you have to sign up for 3 years, lol! .

I'll need to vote also for CrocWeb, they have really good reliable & affordable hosting solutions & there support is excellent, highly recommended.

There are many quality reseller hosts and I'd recommend you to visit an offer section to find the right one.

I think corcweb should be the good option for you... But they have plenty for good reviews here at WHT ....

I always recommend against signing up for long terms at first. ASk if you can go month-to-month and then choose the longer term later. If they say "no" its because they don't have any confidence that their service is worth it, and you shouldn't sign up. I've seen too many cases where people have signed up with an excellent host and just don't get along with them. It doesn't have to be a dramatic type of thing, just a difference in style. Check out SurpassHosting.com, Dathorn.com and MDDHosting.com ... I have had or currently have reseller accounts with them and they are all very good.

End-user support would definitely be a good idea unless you are capable of supporting the clients yourself (but it doesn't appear so).

Your low spec requirement reminds me of resell.biz hosting reselling programme. Maybe, you could check it out, it has pretty flexible options related to buying resources which you could further resell. Alternatively, you could check out the offers section here for more options. Some of the well known providers here at WHT are CrocWeb, EZPZhosting, Eleven2 etc. Good Luck!

I'd like to thank everyone who replied. I've taken not of all your suggestions and will do some research in to them all. Sorry it took a long time to reply, had a long week of work and never received any update emails from WHT. While CrocWeb seems to have the most votes, I'm worried that the Canadian servers may cause a small speed issue when most sites will be in Europe at first.
