Moving a site from a Reseller account back to my Root

Posted by adminforfree, 12-11-2012, 01:42 PM
Hello, I have a reseller that is going out of business and his clients will be hosting with me now. What is the best way to move these sites over to my root server and keep the sites from going down. Here is how I was thinking it needs to be done...the reseller is not using my name servers but his main sites name servers, so I am guessing these will need to be changed to mine first and then just go into 'Home »Account Functions »Modify an Account' and edit who the account owner for that site to 'root'....is this correct? NOTE: I am using WHMCS to mange my hosting company it case it make a difference. Thanks so much for any help! Regards, Fred Williams

Yep - just need to change the owner of the account in WHM to root or your own reseller user. As for the nameservers, just have them change their NS's to yours. Job done!

For changing an account owner in WHM: (Main >> Account Information >> List Accounts) Click the corresponding change button. Select the new owner from the pull-down menu. Click ok.

That or "change account ownership". And WHMCS wouldn't make any difference to it.

If you won't move the accounts of your reseller to ther other server and will keep them on the one server, just under the user root, you will need to do the following: 1) Enter the reseller center ( WHM) and remove the reseller privileges for your customer. Then you can also set the owner as root in Modify account section 2) If you want to set a different owner for those domains, just choose Change Ownership of Multiple accounts option, choose a new reseller user in the list and set this user for all of the domains of your previous reseller account You are done

First you cannot migrate accounts to a Reseller Account directly, you will need at least a VPS because this have a migration tool that will do the migration a piece of cake.

cPanel has ability to change the reseller ownership of any domain. You can change the ownership from certain reseller to root or root to particluar reseller. This does not require a VPS. Kailash
