We use SQL Server 2012 and customers get error when trying to use SQL DBMail saying they need to be in sysadmin group which I do not really want to give
Posted by opendatacenters, 11-23-2014, 01:50 AM I sure do! You are getting that error because as of now, only sysadmin has the permissions needed. What you need to do is configure DB Mail with a user account and permissions. Here an an excellent guide to get you up and running with DB Mail. The guide covers setting up a user account for sqlmail, setting up the profiles and testing. You can scroll down to reach the security section, but I'd recommend going through the whole thing.
