Best Master Reseller Plan for Small Hosting Company?

Posted by RewtAccess, 08-17-2010, 05:48 PM
Basically, I like doing things on the internet mostly for fun, not profit. I was thinking of opening a hosting site. I wanted to know what is the most reliable, but cheap, master reseller that would enable me to easily host a number of clients. I was aiming to roughly break even on the cost, or make a few bucks extra to expand, without a lot of startup fees. Any suggestions? So far I saw InnoHosting, what draws me to them is that with them they provide end-user support and it looks like it would be relatively easy to setup WHMCS and what-not. Also, master reselling would be preferred, but not necessary. Thanks. Last edited by RewtAccess; 08-17-2010 at 05:54 PM.

What sort of budget do you have? Any other specific requirements? This sort of information will help us to point you in the right direction

Thanks for the suggestions. K-Disk looks nice except the fact that you need the most expensive plan to get WHMCS. Preston doesn't offer WHMCS at all. But, both have good costs. Also, I just came across ThePrimeHost (webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=973503). They look nice. Does anyone have any comment on them? Also, as this is a project, I was really hoping for < $20/mo. I also strongly prefer if they give cPanel, WHM, WHMCS, and end user support. My goal is to hopefully have the host provide everything I need to setup a (very) simple/small hosting company. Hello, Welcome to WHT What kind of specific requirements are you looking for ? How many GB of deskspace would you think you need? I see you want to use cPanel/WHM/WHMCS for your site. And would need end-user support IS all this a must? Have you check the Offers part? If not check it out could find a good deal for what your looking for. I have no comment on Theprimehost i never had a account with them. Check out resellerzoom aswell they offer good plans i don't know about the end-user support but i think you can go without it Good luck

Nothing is a MUST right now. I don't want to discriminate this early in the deciding process. I would prefer it, but I want to weigh all options.

You could try out ezpzhosting.co.uk, theprimehost.com, or deasoft.com for master reseller hosting as well.

I also recommend theprimehost.com

I would personally recommend starting off with a VPS, addon cPanel/WHM. (And maybe zamfoo or your choice of master/alpha addon) From www.LowEndBox.com you can find several offers, reviews about each company so you can get a very good idea of what they have to offer. And most every VPS company also has reseller plans as well. So you can get a good idea of their reviews / feedback on VPS and use that to determine which company you want to work with for reseller.

I disagree. Based on his requirements and small budget, it definitely sounds like a reseller plan is best for him

I said in my opinion. I never said my opinion was that of others! The OP said he was doing it for fun. VPS is 10x more fun than just cPanel/WHM Reseller! And to say low end boxes can only host a few sites is a little bit of a leap... The "average" site uses less than 2gb of transfer a month and has 50mb of space! And Low End Box can Range from 64mb ram to 1gb ram (or even more or less technically) and various cpu / other specs. Ive had Low End VPS hosting 300+ sites! And If he is looking at Master / Alpha reseller he is probably looking in the 18-20 dollar range, and there are several host on LowEndBox.com offering VPS with cPanel and sometimes even with WHMCS or ClientExec for under $20. Besides! Its not a competition. No need to attack my opinions... just post your own separate opinions

Ummm, I would be scared of a VPS with cPanel and WHMCS for less then $45 per month. You can get away with 300 sites if most are static HTML

Yea, that ends up putting me out of my budget. Sorry, but other hosting companies include them and end up having a lower price + better specs.

What sort of budget do you have?

Posted by GameDataInc, 08-17-2010, 11:55 PM
Price does not determine how good a VPS is. Thats like saying you wouldnt drive a car thats less than $45,000. (Which is fine.. But doesnt make any since to say any car less than $45,000 is to scary to drive!) @OP Give more details of what your looking for and perhaps we can give you better recommendations instead of debating things your not interested in anyway
