hello good morning from Laos, I have setup a dedi server. so all the things are fine but when i am trying to use ftp for upload some file to a cpanel acc then the error appears at the connection status that can't connect to server. I have search from google and done every thing but still no luck here. On my side no firewalls or even i contacted tge ISP about the issue they told me that i am not blocked by the firewall or any thing. The strange thing is i tried on Hostgator's (my reseller acc) cpanel and tried to upload file by using ftp and that is working fine! :what: So in my hairless head is empty to solve this problem. please guys help me. Is it possible the by server side is blocked for using ftp? I looked at the server (whm) that ftp is open and so on. please please help me. I will provide hosting on this server and the ftp issue appears. Thanks in ADVANCE!!

Temporary stop iptables from your server and then try to access FTP. You can stop iptables using the following commands: /etc/init.d/iptables stop If it works, you will have to allow connection on port 21 or you can install CSF firewall and allow TCP_IN ports from the configuration.

Hello Kailash I am very very new to Dedicated servers (never used) so I don't know how to setup or add the code lines. Is there any other (easy) way to config? I only familiar to WHM/cPanel because I used to have reseller hosting account.

Please see the attached file that is showing when I am trying to login to ftp using filezilla. Using Centos + php + whm + pureftp + restarted = same result adding some code lines = I don't know where to add and how to add! As Kailash12 mentioned "stop iptables from your server and then try to access FTP. You can stop iptables using the following commands: /etc/init.d/iptables stop" Attached Thumbnails

Initially login to the server as root via SSH, then run the following command to stop iptables completely. Then restart FTP service just to make sure it is running fine. Then try to connect to FTP server using your FTP client. If it works, you should correct your iptables rules to allow FTP traffic. The easiest to deploy correct allow rules on a cPanel server is using CSF. But I don't suggest it for you unless you know how to manage it; otherwise you will be locked yourselves out from your server quite easily as CSF is very aggressive to caught IPs to its blacklist with its default settings. So contact your host support to set it up. If it is still getting connection refused error, provide us the output of the following command run on the server via SSH as root user.

Also enable the passive port range for pureFTP Open the /etc/pure-ftpd.conf configuration file in your preferred text editor. Remove the comment (#) from the beginning of the line which contains the PassivePortRange option. Change that line to the following: Save the changes to the configuration file. Run the /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/restartsrv_ftpserver command to restart the server.

In addition, since you are new and have little knowledge to manage your server, I highly recommend you to hire some server management company or purchase managed services from your provider. It is essential that your secure your server during initial configuration otherwise your server will not be secured and you may face lots of issue later.
