Spyware scripts on cpanel ,Is it possible ?

I hired someone to modify one of my script ,He took my money and did nothing to my script. (note to myself - don't trust asian freelancers) Now i'm worried because i gave him Cpanel logins and this cpanel have basic access to WHM,i don't know he installed some spyware or something like that,is that possible to install something like that ? if someone install something like that where they normally install them ? Is it possible ? and are these files important .accesshash, bash_profile ,.bashrc) ? Because i deleted them. (i was little bit paranoid)

Of course that is possible. He just need to put 1 line script on a file in your cpanel account and he can access your data although you change the password.

If you have given root access, anybody can do anything. I also suggest you to remove all allowed SSH keys (authorized key) from your server.

Check the logs of the server if you have enough access to check what commands he has issued.

Did you give him SSH access, cPanel access only and was it a regular user or root? That's the key thing.
