Recommendation instead of Site5?

Posted by ayhan, 05-05-2008, 10:12 AM
Hi, I have an account with site5 and I am not so happy with them. My sites goes offline so much... I couldnt figure out the reason... anyway... I have checked my hosting needs and bandwith with them... I have aproximately over 100 sites with them and with another host(a fully managed vps) but I want to unite them under one center. I'm not planning vps though as yet but that option would be fine (started with normal hosting and them fully-managed upgrade if/when needed). I'm with their domination plan(24GB disk space, 2GB bandwith with 24.95$) but be sure I dont need that much So I moved some of my sites to wiredtree fully-managed vps service. But it cost me much (49$/mo) and the features are (30GB, 300 GB) whish is anough for those 100+ sites. So in short I need something 30GB disk space and minimum 300 GB bandwith reseller hosting plan with cpanel/whm. Free transfer of sites must be provided since last time, I couldnt achieve to transfer most of my accounts to wiredtree because they said they wasnt aware of so many domains to be transfered. And one more question... Is it possible to host some of my sites in EU and some in US datacanters location with one plan?

Hostnine appears to be able to give you such a feature, so, possible, yes. But not common. If upon further research you end up not trusting them, you'll likely have to use 2 reseller accounts to fulfill that need. I'd say that what you're paying wiredtree is quite fair, if the quality is there.

Site5 was our previous hosting provider. We moved to Hotsdime about two years ago. Hostdime services are good and better than most other companies. The support respose time is 30 minutes in average. The uptime of the servers are more than 99.5%(it's 99.9% for our site at this time). The costs are affordable and the product features are rich. I recomend them.

Do they over sell? They offer fair storage and high amounts of bandwidth.

There most certainly is a lot of overselling when 3000GB are given for $30. Whether the servers are overloaded or not, well that can be a totally different issue.

I think they oversell like most other companies. But they don't allow to make overselling. We have several reseller accounts on Hostdime and Surpasshosting(it's a member of Hostdime family. Their services are very similar. Hostdime has phone support and their support is little better than Surpass only)

There is another option for you. Moving websites at Site5 to Wiredtree VPS (if you're happy with Wiredtree service) That way you can avoid the troubles when migrating websites from two different providers to a new one.

ldcdc: wiredtree is fine so far but I am not ready for vps hosting I guess... That's why I am planning to move another service, with reseller option only... PremiumHost: It seems for me, it is better to stick on reseller hosting instead of vps option I guess... Thnx all for your valuable feedbacks... I choose to continue on hostnine... I'm waiting for welcome email and will move all my accounts to this service... Hope I won't regret
