virpus server issues? down?

Posted by ideasman, 03-08-2008, 11:55 AM
our server at virpus has been down and not responding to anything for about 22 hours. Tickets raised with support but have had no response (tickets been in place for about 20 hours) Is anyone else having issues with virpus based servers? Anyone had any response from virpus in the past day? Ken or anyone from Virpus able to respond - not responding to email or tickets raised through myvirpus.com

Looks like I am having a small issue with reaching my domain there too. IP and domain both don't ping.

I can confirm that virpus.com is unreachable from multiple locations in the US. Looks like their nameservers (ns101,202.virpus.com) are responding to pings but that's about it. Looking at their server status page at http://myvirpus.com/serverstatus.php, it says "No Servers are currently being monitored" - not a good sign :-( Good luck, I hope they get your sites up soon.

Good ol'e Virpus. They were known for downtime in the past, but have appeared to been pretty darn amazing lately, good network, good support, etc. Hope their not going back down to what they once were.

Only our website was down as well as a few shared hosting sites. A simple reboot fixed the issue which was done a few hours ago. No VDS customers were down as a result of this. Edit: This has also caused some of our techs (we have techs split up on two different e-mail servers) were not receiving notification which caused a delay in ticket responses. I apologize for the inconvenience caused on this. Last edited by VN-Ken; 03-08-2008 at 03:04 PM.

ken, my VPS is still down now for 24 hours and not responding and no tickets have been responded to. can you please respond to support tickets so we don't have to use industry forums to contact you.

Can you please PM me your ticket ID?

Posted by ideasman, 03-08-2008, 03:59 PM
ken, I can't currently use PM. can you log on to aim and i will catch you there.

Ken, have sent you an invite through AIM. just waiting for you. cheers

I have responded to your ticket a few ago. I have our techs looking into the issue. This was a result of our servers being down earlier, as our techs were not aware of your reply. Thank you for your patience and feel free to respond to the ticket with Management if anything else should come up. Warm Regards,

Posted by ideasman, 03-10-2008, 08:18 AM
According to the myvirpus.com timestamps it is now over 4.5 hours since tickets were logged and still no response.

There is no 'outage' on our end however there is an issue with notifications which suddenly stopped around midnight. We're looking into the issue now and will update your ticket shortly.

Ken, server is still offline. I have had no response to email, no response to AIM , nothing on the tickets. would love to hear from you and would love to have the server back online.

for the record, I really would prefer to just have responses and support via tickets but currently not getting any responses through that mechanism. Hope all gets sorted soon.

still offline and no response or contact from virpus...

Posted by ideasman, 03-10-2008, 11:29 AM
another 45 minutes on and still nothing from Virpus. Really would appreciate some resolution and response to the tickets.

ok, in's now about 3.5 hours since ken said "We're looking into the issue now and will update your ticket shortly." but no progress on the ticket. The server has now been off line for almost 12 hours. Ken a response, resolution and contact from Virpus would really be appreciated. I have telephoned virpus - no answer left a voice message for virpus - no response sent AIM messages to Ken from Virpus - no response raised technical support tickets to virpus - not responded to raised tickets to management - no response emails to virpus - no response Ken - what do i need to do to get support and to get our VPS back online?

Ken, another hour has ticked by. no update on the tickets no contact and importantly still no server.... Is there anyone at virpus today responding to customers? you say that the support ticket system isn't working... what is working? How can I get support and our VPS back online?

Does anyone have any alternative contact details for virpus? I have tried all the email addresses and phone numbers on their website but get no response to anything. any suggestions from anyone? It is a real shame to have such issues with a provider who i have stuck with despite previous issues. Ken? Anyone?...

FYI - ken from virpus has made contact. rebooted sever and back online in about 30 seconds......

Why so long for response from them?

Posted by VN-Ken, 03-10-2008, 06:03 PM
Per my above statement, we had some notification issues that have been resolved as of earlier today. This was cause the delay in responding to tickets.

Ah yes and that was a few posts back, you know your having issues, you would think you would be checking for tickets then while the problem exists Hope its all fixed now,
