Minecraft security

I have a user who wishes to use the minequery plugin on their website, but the problem is that it means I need to open port 42166. I have been hit with a ddos attack in the past from a minecraft site, so wondering if it is safe to open this port?

Hi, if you've been requested to open the port which is already been hit by ddos, then i don't believe this is a secure for further access. attack could occur again. So it is best to let it be as it is.

Your decision to open a port does not really factor into whether you will receive a DDoS attack. The attack will impact you port open or closed.

I dont think you understood my problem. I have done this in the past and it has specifically been related to minecraft. And as a result of opening up a port I think there maybe some vulnerability with minecraft which can allow an attacker to carry out a dos/ddos attack.

They can still dDoS your server whether the port is open or not. They can flood your pipes. From the sound of your question is sounds like someone is launching an attack to bring your minecraft server down when you open that port which means the attack is small but enough to disrupt service.

Ok, but if the minecraft server is being attacked which is hosted elsewhere, then why would the website using the minequery plugin go down?
