Posted by kafloofen, 05-16-2012, 10:18 AM I have a VPS with 2GB RAM and here's what it looks like when I do free command I see that 1,536MB is used for cache, which can be used when needed. Does this mean I can downgrade my RAM to 1GB and still be fine? You know to cut the cost.
Posted by gigatux, 05-16-2012, 10:26 AM Yes, it looks like you can. The cached figure, as you probably know, basically keeps disk data in memory so you might find the VPS a bit slower because it can't cache as much. It probably won't be a massive issue though.
