I have recently purchased Dedicated server. dual core CPU, 8GB RAM.
My website is built on WordPress and has lot of images and the database is around 120MB and ~50k daily visitors.
10 days before it was on DreamHost shared server and i have moved new server. the new server is fine but when i connect to database it is went down or very slow.
Can any one explain how to find the memory usage of the process?

this should't be too hard, you have 8 gigs of ram, increase your query_cache and query cache limits and buffer sizes for mysql and allow mysql to eat your ram. also create mysql keys for commonly selected data however if its updated too often its not worth it.

What is your current MYSQL config? Have you ran any scripts like mysqltuner.pl? It sounds like the database may not be setup to take that many connections if it went down.

Have you properly secured your server? I have created a guide for that if you feel interested. PM me.
