ResellerZoom: Reverse DNS entries for MX records

Posted by Marius1, 11-25-2006, 05:29 PM
Reverse DNS entries for MX records=FAIL ERROR: The IP of one or more of your mail server(s) have no reverse DNS (PTR) entries/* (if you see "Timeout" below, it may mean that your DNS servers did not respond fast enough)*/. RFC1912 2.1 says you should have a reverse DNS for all your mail servers. It is strongly urged that you have them, as many mailservers will not accept mail from mailservers with no reverse DNS entry. You can double-check using the 'Reverse DNS Lookup' tool at the DNSstuff site if you recently changed your reverse DNS entry (it contacts your servers in real time; the reverse DNS lookups in the DNS report use our local caching DNS server)............... I send a ticket to support but they says : The mails from your domain are delivered using the servers main IP ,not from your domains IP. Reverse DNS record is already setup for the servers main IP. So you can ignore this warning in the dnsreports since it will not cause any problems. I have a budget reseller plan B-1.

Seems to be some problems with their RDNS entry then. You have to contact them again to have a fix on this issue.

What they've told you is correct - the lack of rDNS on your dedicated IP will not cause any real problems and can safely be ignored. However other reseller hosts do setup rDNS on their clients' dedicated IPs so if it really bothers you then you could ask RZ to do the same or move to another host.

Just try to send/receive email to see everything is working or not. Eventhough your site has dedicated ip, the mail server still uses the shared ip.

Today I have a nightmare with resellerzoom my site is down sometimes; sometime working It's a wrong decision to buy a budget plan from they . @PremiumHost tell my if you offer private name server and dedicated ip for starter reseller plan in free trial period?

I asked for a refund and they never delivered.

That would be correct If you're unhappy with the budget plan, upgrade to the next plan, maybe you will get better uptime, etc.

i have 5 reseller accounts with RZ, budget ones. All are working perfectly. I don't have high traffic sites, maybe that helps too. I never noticed any downtime. Really.

Marius, what are you using the budget plans for? Reselling? If so, they do state on their website budget plans are not recommended for reselling.

Posted by Marius1, 11-26-2006, 06:48 PM
Yes, budget plan B-1, i will cancel this budget account.
