for windows, if that's what you're using I'd say go with nod business edition. by far the best.

super easy to install for that then. I could walk you through it in a few minutes if you have any kind of time later.

Thanks, i got them installed. I asked because you get mixed answers, Some people dont like installing addons and some do. I do think an antivirus is important though.

I notice big hosts do not bother with it. I have a few site at hostgator and they do not have it installed. I'm just wondering if they try and save processes or they just don't worry about it.

ClamAV works, as does RKHUNTER. Both are free. I'd also recommend CSF / LFD from configserver.com (also free, and it gives you a "security audit" with recommendations). I added ConfigServer's CXS (Config Xploit Scanner), which is a one-time $50 charge per server, and like the fact that I can set it to scan for text strings each evening. Someday I'll figure out how to make it scan FTP uploads and web uploads (a capability it has, but I haven't been able to get to work on my server).

I agree CSF is a must. That is one of the first things on my list. I cant live without it.

Integrating Clamav with Exim works good on CentOS based cpanel servers.

I haven't used AVG on linux; I did use it on my Windows PCs for a while (XP and then my WHS). I liked it, but they started charging for WHS use.
