Sultan or Sonata Host Experiences?

Posted by divva, 12-05-2005, 02:39 PM
Am currently with Hostgator and am unhappy to say that the problems I've been having are being met with a less than pleasant support experience. Tried emailing and contacting SEVERAL recommended hosts. After two hours, only Sonata Web and Sultan have responded to my queries. Does anyone have any experience with either of these hosts?

You might want to give hosts a bit more time than just 2 hours to respond to a sales request. IMHO, even a 24 hour response time isn't *terrible* (but should be within 12 hours, depending on when you sent it).

Agree people need to understand many host only do sales M-F and if you sent it in on a weekend you many not get a reply until sometime monday.

I've been a reseller for quite a while now. I started out as a reseller with Communitech years ago. Over the years, I've learned that most "regular" people see web sites as "magic". They don't understand either the web nor their computer and further more, they don't care to understand it. They just want it to work, and to work flawlessly for less than a cup of coffee per month at that. As a seasoned purchaser of reseller hosting, I also have been in NUMEROUS situations where for one reason or another, my reseller account and all my client sites are down and I can't get ANYONE! Not by phone, not by email and not by support ticket, all while my phone rings away because MY clients have my work phone and they use it! (Heck, they call when they can't connect via their ISP.) I also understand that 99% uptime still leaves 7.2 hours a month of acceptable "downtime". (30 days X 24 hours= 720 hours in a 30 day month) I had to explain that math over and over again years ago when a server I was on went down for 6 hours early one Monday morning. Which is why I value the experience of those who frequent this board. Thank you for your recommendations. Package price is no way to judge the quality of a host and past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior. It's through this board I learned to ask "pre-sales" questions. It was a post in this forum that recommended not choosing a host who couldn't reply to a ticket in a timely fashion. If anyone has comments on either Sonata or Sultun, I'd appreciate it. I'm not going to make a decision based SOLELY upon the sales department's response time. I would like to hear experiences. (Searching the postings didn't yield much.)

I would suggest you to go with sonata web. I am using sonata for more than one year and very satisfied with their services.
